So anyone else notice that the main synth in No One On Earth is the exact same as from r.e.p.l.i.c.a. - i begin to run, released in '92?
It's not just the same tune, the synth actually sounds exactly the same.
if you haven't heard the original, get it...it's surprising how that track, although over 10 years older, sounds so alike to no one on earth.
What are the legalities regarding this sort of thing? Would A&B have had to get the permission of R.E.P.L.I.C.A to use the melody? Or would it be done through the label? It's not a remix, which is a bit disturbing in that R.E.P.L.I.C.A gets no credit at all. No One on Earth is such a big track lately, a pity that credit isn't given where it is due. Just my thoughts...
I have the Gabriel and Dresden Remix, im sure you all will recognise it straight away...

| If it only "reminds" of the earlier one, no permission is needed. (though credit should be given), but if it's a blatant rip-off... |

It's a blatant ripoff :P when the REPICA tune came up on my playlist, i at first thought it WAS A&B. I only just heard it now, it was on my brothers old Tranced volume 1 cd, from '92. Some good tunes on that cd actually :P general base and whatnot ;) |

That's bad... in that case, if A&B don't have permission (from the label, I think), they're basically breaking copyright.
Not that I know too much about this stuff. I could be wrong. |

| I've heard both, they sound similar, not like the atb - remember, ripoff of scorchio but I can see why you would label it a ripoff. |

I care, and so should you if A&B don't give any credit. If someone can tell me that the credit has been given, and that A&B attained the rights, then I'll be happy. All I want to know is whether it was done legally or not. Do any of the guys from A&B post on TA? perhaps they could shed some light :) |
