New Laptop

| My new laptop finally came today, i'm so ing psyched. moving all my music and whatnot as we speak, but since i've never had XP or a laptop, any cool software i should know about or anything? |

dell 5150, 512 RAM, 2.80 gHz, 60 gig hard drive (7200 rpms :)), and above all, a remote control
so while i'm living in a dorm room, which is half the size of my current room and i'll be sharing it with another person, i can still avoid getting my lazy ass off my bed when i wanna change music
those 4 steps across the room are a killer |

Nice... pentium4 in a laptop isnt always the best thing in the world, but it will do just fine. Laptops nowadays get much more power with "Pentium M" which run much cooler, draw way less power, and have a much longer battery life (in some cases double).
FYI Pentium M @ 1.6Ghz = Pentium 4 @ 2.4Ghz

yeah no the only ones with pentium M dell was offering started at like 1800
this one started at like 990 and i still ended up paying about 1650 which is all i can afford |

| Congrats. But avoid real player like the plague. Look into external Firewire 800 Hard Drives. Your machine will run a lot faster if you upgrade your RAM to 1+ Gig. Software wise though, what are you into? |

well i'm moving the stuff i usually use (photoshop 7.0, cool edit, fruity loops, dc++) to the laptop, but i wasn't sure if there anything that was particularly good on XP or anything, or cool software for laptops
