aaaah, no, don't, because to regress means to return to something, or return to an earlier state, therefore what he said makes no sense :thepirate |

I'll call them Progressive because Hybrid are leaders of the pack and have established a sound all their own. I'll also call them Breaks because that's their main focus -- their crisp, stuttery sound. I might also have to call them Symphonic because of "Finished Symphony" and several other noteworthy tracks for obvious reasons. And it's obvious that being HYBRID, they have combined their love for other types of music like Trance and they do in fact have four-on-the-floor stompers.
So:
Progressive, Symphonic Breaktrance
;)
(although with Morning Sci-Fi, the situation expands into rocky bits too, and they'll be taking on hip-hop next... ahh the diversity.) |
Once again, our well-articulated friend Aspergian does his thing! That's the kind of description I was after. That "symphonic" part makes me interested. Tomorrow I'll see if I can get this, when the store opens. |

alike artists to Hybrid is DJ Icey and DJ Fixx, but Icey and Fixx have more industrial sound to them, more hard synths, Hybrid contains more melody,etc...
Icey and Fixx are similar as far as percussion is concerned, they are considered "funky breaks" so if your looking for more breaks check them out aswell

Their sound from Wider Angle into Morning Sci-Fi definitely is different, although to call it boring and regressive is definitely an incorrect statement. I say I enjoy Morning Sci-Fi even more (the beauty of Higher Than a Skyscraper rivals that of Finished Symphony). Their sound is now less big sounding (if that makes any sense), it's much more layered and subtle, yet still very entertaining and enjoyable. |

| id say wide(r) angle was trancy breakbeat more than progressive to be honest but meh its a mute point. second album i have to admit as much as wide angle but thats only because wide angle was just amazing. i like the fact that have evolved their sound and hope they continue to do so. in my eyes they have been the most consitantly good group in the last 5 years. nothing short of amazing |

He wasn't attemting to classify it for the sake of it, just to describe it for DJ Cinos, who wanted to know how it sounded. Where's the harm in that? |

theres no harm in that, of course, except he continued to write a 10 line essay and come up with a conclusion hybrid was "progressive symphonic breaktrance" which is the most pretentious bull ive ever heard |
