Scumfrog @ Sullivan Room review

Just came back from it. Scumfrog played till 5:45. I'm beat... Here's a quick review.

Was tired this afternoon and took a nap. Woke up at 1AM! :o Got to Sullivan Room at 2 and Scumfrog was on. I asked around and he started at 1 so I missed his first hour. This was my first time at Sullivan Room and I have to say I like the place a lot. It felt like a nicer and larger Filter14. Sound was good. The crowd was older but very music oriented. I felt very comfortable there. I saw no TA's and recognized no one.

When I came in Scumfrog was playing Senses. I saw him in Toronto recently at a big club (I have no idea what is up with his Crobar residency). I have to say he played much better here. His set had a sleazy quality to it - meaning dirty bass and a slurring trippy sound. I think at one point I heard him play Astro & Glyde's new song 'Aimless Dame'. Some of the other songs in his set I recognized:

Scumfrog - Simmer
That Kid Chris - Getting Deeper
Amiel - Lovesong (Scumfrog remix) folks went nuts for this one
The first track on Digweed's 2002 album

He ended his set with Flash Brothers - Amen. He played 2 encores. The first was a new track from his upcoming album. He said it was the last track on the album - it was very tribal house with some rock. The last encore was a remix of Depeche Mode's 'Enjoy the Silence' (sorry I don't know the name remix)

If you love Tom Stephan (superchumbo) and have listened to Tom Stephan and Antoine909's essential mix from last year. Well, the last hour of his set sounded like the last hour of this essential mix. I hope you guys can imagine ;) Very driving thumping tribal house. It was a good time :)

Anyone went to Ikon-Godskitchen? How was it?

Good night!
