if its on the weekend amtrak might be ur only bet (station's in downtown davis) but if its on a weekday (like if u went the day before LP) u could take the berkeley/davis intercampus shuttle and then take BART from downtown berkeley straight to SF |

If you take Amtrak, get off at the Richmond, CA station, because it's the same station as the Richmond BART station...just walk from the Amtrack onramp over to the BART area...nice and easy :-p

The SF MUNI (www.sfmuni.org) provides extremely good bus service all over the city. As for places to visit, Golden Gate Park & the Haight are a must, and I suppose as a visitor you're kind of required to visit Fisherman's Warf... Also, the Renaissance Parc 55 has been known to have cheap room rates, I don't recommend staying the night anywhere south of Market really.

Whenever I go to SF, I stop by the local Denny's and get one of those free yellow coupon books - travel guides. Those things have cheap hotel prices. Last year on 4th of July, I stayed at the Double Tree hotel (at the airport) for $69 a night for a double bed room. I know I'm doing the same this year! Yellow coupon book, here I come!
