so my friends slutty dog had about 12 puppies a few months ago......

tonight my friend hears a yelp from one of them and goes to check it out......next thing you know he see's the mother and the puppies eating one of the other puppies?!?

now ive heard of mothers killing their own puppies, and ive definitely heard of wild animals eating their own young, but never dogs. Now how this dog died, who knows, but in 23 years ive never heard of dogs eating THEIR own kin.

is this anywhere near normal? he isnt starving them at all or anything, they just in were eatin the damn dog :nervous:

This is very disturbing!!! Maybe it just pissed them off, and they decided to eat it. :nervous:

Do a search on the net. Perhaps there is some scientific reason as to why a dog would do something like this.

Dog eat dog world we live in :eyespop:

it is very common..my uncle is rotwiller breeder and have seen this alot. what happens is that the mother becomes so overprotective of her pups that she eats em...your friend should stay away from the mom for a while.

damn, reading that gave me shivers.. i can stand excessive violence, but wounded/dead animals stike a chord with me..

related story kinda: my one cat gave birth to only one baby. about 3 months ago (mother is 4-5, baby is 2-3 i think) we hear massive screaming and running around upstairs. mother is chasing baby around the house, like she wants to kill her. hissing and screaming and everything. now we have to keep them apart, as in only one roaming the house at a time, or else they'll flip and attack eachother.

so sad, mother against daughter.. no one has any clue why.. :(

well, I got two cats (not blood related)......and I do know mothers sometimes have a problem accepting their young......sometimes they will totally neglect them, in which humans have to come in and take action (like you guys did), otherwise the kitten will die. Sometimes theyll even kill them. That I KNOW is common.

but actually eating their own young, has me stumped. :nervous:

the thing we dont understand is why all of a sudden.. they've been together for 2 years without a big incident.. they were even cleaning each other the night before.. very weird :conf:

and about the puppy.. i'd be interested to know whether the mother or the other puppies caused the death, or if they knew it just died and for some reason ate it.. freaky either way tho.

I bet one of them said Tiesto was the best DJ in the world, end of story, and the other flipped out.
