Will be playing @ System Soundbar in Toronto on August 28th
*cries* I wish I knew about this earlier.. I would have chosen to his this up instead of BBB.
Anyway, this is more appropriate in the Toronto forum.. but damn I wish he was booked @ the Dag, or somewhere else in Montreal.

The current state of the 'club scene' in Montreal aside, how exactly are the promoters in Montreal 'enriching or educating' le 'grand monde' if they book the same djs over and over.. or rely on the djs to show up in DJ Mag's top 20 list to get booked?
I'm not stirring this debate about diversity or competition again, but I think it's a legitimate question. Are the clubs merely 'venues' to host djs, or is there any actual 'promoting' involved.
and by promoting I don't mean trying to convince people to buy their ticket for tiesto... I mean, actually promoting the artist. |

for your info donald glaude is very well known
like evry dj in the dj mag top 100
ranked 68
i guess this means he is really well known
ok ok if you ask someone on the street maybe he would not know him....but edm entousiast knows him |

hahaha.. ya... ranked higher than Mark Farina, Bad Boy Bill (hehe), Yousef, DJ Dan.. to name a few..
Not that I give this system that much weight, but since some promoters obviously do, it's worth noting.
All this from a guy who barely ever plays outside North America (Dj Dan also) and considering many of these votes for the top 100 are tabulated from europe, that is pretty impressive. |

when i think of "promoting" the last guy i'd think of is donald glaude...because he does nothing on the production tip, he really isn't changing the sound of dance music....his sets are amazing and soo fun, but nothing revolutionary..
promoters are here to educate clubbers on new music, new producers, and promote artists that are really pushing music forward...or unknown djs that really need the exposure...
guys liek infusion, gray area, james holden, steve porter, (insert really good techno guys here), luke fair, mv, jay tripwire, etc....
not guys like bad boy bill, keoki, tiesto, or superstar dj that is already super well known.....thats just to make $$ i guess |

I wholeheartedly agree with many of your points, and I agree, Donald isn't revolutionizing the industry, but he leaves a BIG impression and his antics are kinda fun! (moving crossfader with his nose.. hehe.. maaaaad scratching.. etc) and I highly doubt he costs da big buck$ either.
I would always like to see 'fresh' names, but I know that's not going to happen.. the problem is, many names that aren't even so fresh seldom play in these parts either, because the current rotation of djs that get booked seems to be enough to satisfy the promoters.
