As far as I'm concerned when it comes to style, fashion, and architecture the general north american region is pretty lame. It's not really surprising of course considering that Europeans have such a rich history in the field - although cities like NY, LA, Miami have done a pretty good job to catch up.
Still though most people around our region have no clue - and don't even bother.
What really got me lately though is that new commercial on TV (I think it's for a certain Levi's brand that's sold in Walmart). The whole commercial has kids saying something like "I don't follow trends, I don't buy what's fashionable, I don't buy what's cool..." and etc and etc. but the commercial itself is trying to sell those kids the same "cool" product. :haha: :stongue: So now those kids...who think..."oh i don't follow trends" will go and buy that and follow "their own trend" cause they think they are all so differnt. :haha: :stongue: I mean it's brilliant marketing really - same way they sold Avril Lavigne to all the anti-pop kids...:haha: :stongue:
It seems kind of strange, and when I moved here I was quite shocked to find out that Fashion Television was a Canadian program :happy2: I think it's cool that we're trying to pick in that department but something's blocking the way. Regardless though we have some good up and comming designers, models, and stylists from Canada so hopefully things will turn around for the better soon.
I guess I'm a little frustrated with the wild display of horrible clothing and sox with sandals that I saw this morning on the subway :p |

Aren't you in London anyway?
By the way if you're already bringing this up, one of the designers for Diesel is Israeli and people there are much more stylish...actually i find that most people from the middle east these days are paying a lot of attentiont to style and fashion ;) |

Have you been there??? Isrealis are crazy about fashion... those who can afford it that is. I think Israeli high fashion is some of the best around (could be helped by the fact that Israeli women are gorgeous!!! :eyes: :eyes:) |

How the does me being in London have anything to do with this thread?
You weren't talking about Israel directly, but you did make it clear that you had "moved" to Canada (or North America rather). And the point I was trying to make was that people who always harp on Canada get on my ing nerves, especially immigrants. z00t
People in Israel are more stylish? Probably. |

The fact that youre living in one of the coolest cities in the world - one of world's capitals in fact when it comes to culture, style, architecture and design...so yes it does have everything to do with this thread. At least I'm HERE making comments about HERE...and you are miles away making commets from one of the coolest cities in the world.
And just for the record I guess the fact that I said "...I think it's cool that we're trying to pick in that department but something's blocking the way. Regardless though we have some good up and comming designers, models, and stylists from Canada..." really escaped your eyes...
And I moved here 7 years ago...it's not like i came here yesterday  |

| Dude, London is great. I'm not blind to the fact that Europe (as a cultural movement) may have a greater vested interest in fashion. But that doesn't in my eyes mean that Canada's taste is , which is how it always comes off to me when people piss on what I consider to be the greatest country in the world. |
