For the computer know-it-alls.....Question..

My computer as of late has been restarting by it self & then when it starts back up it says: New hard ware has caused a change in your system settings which has caused a restart ....... & then it says "if you havent added any new hardware & the restart was caused by a electrical failure, choose to restart using your original configueration" (or something to that degree).
I'll choose that option, & then Windows XP will do like a FAT32 system check & says that my drives will be checked for consistency.
It'll go through all that, and maybe a hr later it will restart again by itself.......
Any1 know what may be causing this ????!!! Its driving me crazy! Any help is appreciated. |

Try this:
Control Panel > System > Advanced Tab > Startup And Recovery Settings > Uncheck Automatically Restart
Might do the trick. |

Once you do that dont auto restart stuff check if you get an IRQL_NOTHING_MORE_NOTHING_LESS error. If so then your PSU(POwer Supply Unit) may be going bad or insufficient power may be going to your hardware.
If you get another error just Google it and see what ya get for a result. |

I keep getting IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bsod for the last 2 weeks. But I just bought a new power supply about 2 months ago. |

It can be caused by lots of things other than a power supply, and usually occurs when two or more modules attempt to access the same IRQ. The best way to fix it seems to be to play around with the IRQ allocations in CMOS. Of course, if the problem always occurs when using the same program or group of programs, there's bound to be hints about what's amiss.
If you've installed any new device drivers recently or added new hardware to the board, that could be the source of your problem rather than the power supply. |
