Hello Board Members,
I just uploaded a track @

It's called "Corner Stone." It's just straight up banging epic/melodic trance. I would really appreciate some feedback.

| A couple of people has said it sounda little thin. Do you think it's just a fix with the reverb, is it just my underlying sounds, or something totally different. I'd really appreciate some help. |

I think mainly because the bass is too soft. I can't be sure, since I'm only listening in headphones, so unless it's all sub bass that would be it. Probably a little better mixing all round would help. Some of the cymbal/kick crashes are way too loud!
The melodies are pretty nice, all the ideas are there. I like the swirling synth in the breakdown at 3:11
For a fatter sound, try filtering some of the lead lines, they would sound better with a little variation in tone. And add some lush fx. All the best! |

Hey, thanks a lot. The version you heard was actually a complete sound overhaul than the original that I got complaints about. I checked out the "The Professional Sound" thread and started layering like crazy.
I will definitely look into the bass levels. I feels it's the sub bass issue because through my monitors they seems to be at an "okay" level.
Is there any way I could get you to expand on the filtering suggestion? Do you mean I should have my synth oscilattor filters sweep the cutoff or resonance or do you mean filter them through effects such as flangier or phaser? Any clarification would be awesome.

Either I guess, just something to change the sound a bit. if a sound doesn't evolve in some way it can get a little boring.
The filter cutoff/resonance on your synth is a good place to start. I noticed you had some cool flange type thing going on some of the background fx, that sounded good. You could bring some of that in on the main lines too. Best of luck with the tune! |
