I know what I need in my bro's comp. but he's paying, so I need to stay under a budget amount.

Does any1 know of any GTA local computer shops that do custom machines, and even better... have websites where I can do custom configs with price quotes???

As for my computer, I'm stuck between getting a G4 laptop or a new PC, primarily for audio work/production/etc. I've got no budget but wanna spend no more than $4000, preferably under $3000.

Open for any suggestions!!!!! I'm in Richmond Hill, so anything nearby would help too, but travel is irrelevant if the price of the system is right.

G4 notebook is the best bet, i bid on ebay not more than 600$ for one, i changed my mind and cancelled my bid, however, you can get one from there.

Once i bid, i got like 15-20 emails from others who can beat the price.

And yes that included shipping and handling.;)

Now if you dont mind spending on software and time trying to fix a MAC

Otherwise i would build a powerhouse PC- software free and easy to fix.lol:D

Well that depends what kind of system you want...Intel or AMD?

I've shopped there often over the years when building my systems.

to build, you put it together, and pop in the windows cd, and its easy as pie from there

You make it sound so easy. So you get all your parts home, start building it, try it out and nothing happens. What's next? So it powers on, doesn't boot? Now what's next, you can spend a lot of time trouble shooting, which one of the parts isn't working. Take it back to the store, get a new one, put it back together again. Total pain in my ass, and I'll happily pay someone to do all that crap.

yeah, it's much easier for someone else to build it for you. you just give them the specs.

that's exactly what i did for my kick ass computer :).

and it was a small store somewhere in Markham.

as for your budget, you will have no problems getting the computer you need for less than 3000 dollars. if you go for the laptop, you will pay for the fact that it is a laptop but it might be easier for you to use in what you are doing. nothing better than sitting in front of the TV on the couch and doing work on the comp.

it really is that easy to be honest. if it doesnt work, i can usually figure out the problem right away, there are a few basic thigns taht can go wrong, aside from a total hardware faliure. Remembe a prebuilt computer can fail on you too, when you bring it home.

if someone wants to pay me to put it together for them, ill do it. Ill help you decide what to put in as well.

PS - i always recomend a desktop vs a laptop because they are easier and cheaper to upgrade, and the chance of them failing is less due to less wear and tear

Yes, it's the kick ass club lights your computer is sporting.

Why don't you just buy my comp... I've loaded it up with some real nice goodies and tweaked it for the audio/video production, plus it's upgreadable to whatever you had in mind. And it costs a lot less than $3000.
