granted, but if it's a dub it'd be better idea to rent it with subs.

It's been quite a loooooooooong ride with the release of Hero...

Tarantino will be "presenting" it [like he did with the Iron Monkey release]. All he's doing is promoting it - in terms actual production and film-making, Tarantino had absolutely zero input.
Miramax bought the U.S. rights to the film 2 years ago and had planned to release it soon after the initial asian release. However, they wanted to edit/cut some scenes and cast a dub over it - which the original film-makers, predominately director Zhang Yimou and lead actor Jet Li did not want. The talks dragged on and on, and it looked all hope was gone as Miramax lost interest.
Then, I believe, @ the Cannes film festival where the premiere of Zhang's new martial arts epic "House of Flying Daggers" was held, Tarantino was so impressed after the movie that he went over to the cast and hugged them all. After chatting with Zhang and was so pleased with his movies that Tarantino pushed/forced Miramax to release Hero as soon as possible. He felt it was a disgrace how the release of Hero was being handled and agreed to promote the movie with his name on it to gain some audience interest.

Miramax also pressured online stores to stop selling the original asian DVD releases of Hero, so it's a bit difficult to get the DVDs now.

I personally loved Hero, it bridges the gap between mainstream and art-house cinema. A lot of people thought it was pure-eye candy but the theme of "greater good" somewhat touched me. Good .

House of Flying Daggers was aquired by Sony Pictures [I think] and should be out in proper cinemas just before Christmas! :D I'm definitely looking forward to it.
