software that simulates the real thing..

I'm currently a heavy user of FL Studio, Sound Forge, and Acid Pro.
I'm searching for a production suite that can do everything a MIDI/VST/hardware studio needs, while simulating the workings of a professional studio console, just b/c i've had more experience in a recording studio console environment, and ProTools (which isn't one of my available options yet).
things you might find in said environment::
.signal gain & phase control
.signal chain consistency for each input channel
.signal routing/re-routing
.per-channel fx application
.virtual mixer with actual dB readouts & scale
.aux sends
.live recording/mixdown/patterns modes for song elements
...and the usual software suite stuff like vst/midi capability
i can't afford logic, yet. What I'm asking for is what the other options are. Initially I wanted Logic, but perhaps Nuendo or Performer might do it, or maybe even Reason, or Sonar, but I don't know what they offer. Please don't tell me to try the demo of every production app out there. This is not a "what program makes banging pro trax that'll get me money" threads, btw. |

How about Cubase SX 2.0? Stable for MIDI.
Works with me but of course I do not use just one program cause I do Rewire with FL and Reason v2.5 together.
Thats what i can think of since Logic is too exp for ya. But Logic is too hard to use for me, cant understand :)
Good luck mate |

| If you use Reason and Rewire with Cubase I think I think it might just do most of the things you listed. :p |
