I Recently got a Dm2 from Santa and im wondering if anyone has used this...and is this a good way to practice mixing...and then head into the real equipment

Hmmm.. I got this. Then promptly returned it. :eyes:

You might get better mileage out of it than me however, as I was already using Tracktor DJ Studio and another midi-usb controller (Evolution UC-16). I found out that Tracktor only supports 1 controller at a time (grrr).

I managed to get the DM2 to control Traktor, and it wasn't too bad. You can use the jog wheels to cue the track just like a turntable, except you have to press a button first - that part kinda sucked.

I never bothered to use the software that came with the DM2 (in fact, it crashed), so I can't really give you any info on that.

The build quality does make the DM2 feel like a toy, but hey it's pretty cheap and it works, so *shrug*

Since you already have a DM2, I would suggest buying Traktor (or try the demo out). Note that you need a special DM2 midi driver to get it to work with Traktor - you can find it on Google.
