| Just thought i'd start an appreciation thread for torley. He's always there to help and contribute to newbies about queries, giving detailed replies. Its great that that he genuinely wants to share knowledge. All of us newbies, and those old-skoolers that may not have a complete knowhow about the genre definately appreciate ya! |

I must emphasize, however, I have far from a complete knowhow. I've asked my fair share of questions to learn. I suppose the analog would be like mapping the human genome -- likewise, this is mapping a sort of sonic genome encompassing electronic dance music (or "techno" as I call it, mwahaha) and going beyond that because of the relation and impact it has on our lives & lifestyles. We all work on this together.
The joy is in the learning -- and subsequent execution of theory into practice like RAVING/DANCING MADLY! -- which is why I am here... to participate in this processing of raw data and analysis of the resulting information in context so that we will all be more amused. (And sometimes it is hard to be easily amused.)
Who knew knowledge could be so much fun? ;) |

I'm glad to see a TA who just wants to share their love of the music; honestly, we all should be like that.
I've also been into the music for a long time, so if anyone has got any n00b questions, don't be afraid to ask me either. Nothing makes me feel better than knowing that I helped someone appreciate dance music the same way that I do. |
