Problem with Virus C and SoundDriver

I just got my Virus C today and i'm really thrilled. I only have this one problem: I connect the Virus to my computer using two midi cables(machine out to virus in and opposite). When i load Virus SoundDriver, it usually notices that my Virus is connected. Then it says somethign about patches being loaded from preferences. When i then try to receive banks and information from the Virus, usually the two first banks A and B "download" fine, but then i get this message saying "SysEx communication error. Virus C didn't respond nad then some solutions". Ive treid all of them with the same result. It's weird that usually if i restart the sounddriver, it works again for a while. The amoutn of patches i get each time varies. What to do? My soundcard is Creatiev Sound Blaster audigy platinum(i know its a crappy card for making music).

Any help appreciated!

Have you dowloaded the newest version of sounddriveer from access? Give that a try if you haven't

I didn't know that they just updated it a few days ago.. i tried the new version and it still doesn't work.

I know the MIDI In/Out to my virus works becuase I can record automation from it and it plays back midi notes.

I had the same problem before and it didn't work again until I formatted my computer.. so maybe uninstalling sounddiver and deleting ALL the registry entries might work.. i'll try it and let u know..

didn't work.. i'm not suprised.. i've heard many bad things about this software. You're best off learning how to navigate the menu in your hardware and change sounds and perimiters that way.. it's not too hard..

Its like 50/50. I know a lot of ppl with issues with virus and sound diver (both B & C Versions). I have issues as well, with it sending and transferring data back and forth.

I had a bitch of a time getting sounddriver to work. I believe I fixed it when I replaced my mobo and processor, reinstalled xp, updtated sounddriver and my protools le with the most current version. Finally got it to work but it was a pain. Good luck

I have the latest sounddriver, and running it to use with my virus c, with the latest operating OS. I had many problems with it not working, but i found a solution to my problem. I used the midi in/out on my RME multiface, with a set of long midi cables. (that didn't work) It was freezing, and i was unable to send stuff back to the virus sometimes.. Sometimes it worked, which was weird..
So when i switched my setup around and I used my steinberg's 2x2 midi interface with very short midi cables to the virus and from it, and used my RME just to communicate with another piece (mackie control) all of a sudden sounddriver works fine, i can do everything without any problem. So i belive it had to do with the cable lenght for me and switching to another midi interface. I know it should work with all, but this is how i got rid of my problem. Now virus works fine and the midi works fine all thrue my whole setup without any problems..
