| I love breaks, it's my #2 in the EDM world. I try to produce it, it can be fun, it dosen't have to be quite a fluid as trance. I'm got a killer breaks version on Dooms Night I just finished. |

| Yeh I've just got into breaks and its ace. Trance I love and thats what I've been producing but think I prefer the breaks a little more now so have just started producing it. You got any tips on kicks etc... as not even having many break beat records and just listning to it out it is all very new. |

Not so much effects etc as thats indivdual but would love to know how the kick drum sounds, not arranged just the way they sound. Thats it to be honest.
Not unless you have any good tips on other elements in that style. |

Well it depends on the style of breaks you do, really. I usually do trance-influenced breaks so I tend to use the same kind of kicks I'd use in plain trance tunes as well. Usually, though, with "traditional" breaks the kick is a bit softer because it's usually the bassline that takes the tune forward rather than the beat. |

ah kewl, as thats kinda of what Ive been doing spending most my time producing trance. Ive kinda gone into the whole Prog / Breaks scene, so would I be wrong and get slated using what I've picked up while producing trance and using it withing these styles, or shall I just do what I think sounds good to the ear??
Im going with what I think sounds good.
So how do you get clear, nice sounding basslines, as I tend to get it sounding muffled and busy - any tips on that buddy. |

If it sounds good to you then that's all that matters, isn't it? :)
Basslines... oh, I don't think I've still properly nailed them... it's just careful volume/EQ adjustment with minor compression. It's one of those things you just pick up over time, it's not so long ago when I used to have huge problems with my basslines... |
