Talks between the players union and the NHL are still in progress, but there has been no sign in either party's stance that they are willing to compromise on the issue.
Floorfiller
well crap! is there a date that things have to be met by?

there will be no nhl season next year. any talks between players and the nhl once the word 'salary cap' is mentioned the players walk out of the meeting. trust me, this is far from over. most of the top players have already signed contracts to play in europe next year.

Although quite a few do have contracts to play in Europe, they've all got clauses to come back and play in the NHl if, and when, the season does start back up again.

Dunno how talks are going, if they're even moving along, but yeah, like it was said above, it doesn't look like an agreement's going to be reached before the deadline.

But hey, atleast there's the World Cup :D

Hockey is a sport anyway.

American sports are all about needing as many accesories as possible, and hockey doesn't disappoint. They use more padding then a grandmother trying to prevent bladder leakage, helmets, sticks, the list goes on. The only they forget is natural talent.

And the only reason the canadians are good at it is due to the weather.

I find the game quite boring to watch, been to a few games, and they regular fights just to make it slightly watchable.

Nearly as bad as that grid iron crap.

as usual, gimps like you don't understand the reality of the game. You wear some padding but that's to not be mortally injured. A 6 oz piece of galvanized rubber being smacked around at times near 100mph does do a lot of damage to the body, the protection tries to keep that minimal but we still have nasty injuries. I rather watch hockey than that boring and pointless aussie rules football. The game is fast and played at a high level. Why is Canada better than other countries you ask? We show up when it counts most of the time, that's why NHL teams stack their teams with Canadian players because we don't hide come playoff time like most europeans.

Oh cmon, hockey is crap. Its like a made-up sport, glorified ice skating if you ask me.

The person that designed the game thought:

"Um, lets make the field the size of an ice rank"

"Um, lets put a goal at each end and have a replacement ball"

"Um, lets have a goalkeeper, and the aim of the game is get the puck in the goal"

Groundbreaking stuff that. Rocket science at its best.
