I think what trancebrat, and especially I, mean when we say 'slang' is the MTV "gangster" slang. i.e...

Homie, Shizzle, Chillaxin, Dawg, Yo, etc.

I have no problem with the way people from other countries speak.

ebonics..

I have found some of them to be genuinely unhappy inside upon sitting down and talking with them... one girl I chatted with said she wanted to be more "unique" and express herself, and I asked her what was holding her back. She replied, that in society there is such pressure to conform, and especially as a female, to bend to certain beauty aesthetics in this culture and mannerisms. She felt trapped because no matter how much how she tried to be herself, she was reminded harshly by others that it wasn't good enough for them -- and these were her "friends"! All of them were locked in and no one could boldly take the first step towards freeing their minds (and no, I don't mean The Matrix (TM) ). What a vicious cycle. :(

Wow....that's crap. But then again most people won't change if they have something that's currently working.

I can't think of anyone or any type of person that annoys me. If someone annoys me, it's only for a brief moment, or for as long as I have to interact with them - after that, it's gone and I forget about it. And if I'm forced to continue interacting with said person, I just kinda start ignoring whatever aspect of theirs is concieved as annoying.

I feel like a Zen Mastah

This attitude annoys me.

Everytime I've been to the States I've found a huge reluctance for their citizens to try to put their mind around slightly different ways of saying the same thing. Its almost like "this is the way I say it and I'm not even going to try and understand a term I'm unfamilar with". Its like use our exact language or none at all.

Well guess what? People from different parts of the word use different terminology and unless you only want to speak with your fellow countrymen, get used to it.

This doesn't work well with Aussies because all we talk is slang.

I found this hugely frustrating, because as much as our versions of English are similar there is very little attempt often made to understand new terms and phrases.

Yes I already saw idoru's response. In the future you might want to ask before you assume. Apparently you are not subjected to the same BS that I am subjected to. The people that feel the need to say like "wats da dealio?" "watup dawg?" :conf: Before you go jumping to conclusions you might want to consider that not everything revolves around you being from Australia. I could give a flying about your Aussie slang. I wasn't talking about people from other countries. I'm talking about the kids from right up the street that I can't understand because they have created a whole new language. Somehow "the" has become "da". Straight out of the hood. :wtf: I have numerous friends from the UK and they have slang that I sometimes have to ask "wtf did you just say to me?". I don't mind that. It's just a difference in culture. I just hate the kids that come from homes where their father is a surgeon and their mother is a professor yet the kid speaks like he has never received a formal education becaue he thinks it's cool to sound as though he is from the ghetto. That kid is not a product of his environment. :wtf:

In the future try asking me to clarify my comments and maybe we wouldn't be at each others throats all the time.

1. most yuppies, except my husband. lol.

2. extreme arrogance as an attempt to compensate for low self esteem

3. people who don't listen, but always want to be heard

4. any religious faction

5. women and men who spend just a tad too much time in the tanning salon and end up looking like raisins.

6. that whole unnatural blonde look..ie...white cottony looking hair. natural blonde coloring is so much prettier.

Elitists and those guilty of generalizing. I find it ignorant and irritating.

Very few things irritate me and what does gets taken care of immediately. I can’t spend energy on being irritated simply because I won’t have any left on things I love. Irritation is a state of mind, a condition produced by an individual. I try to surround myself by conditions I want to produce. Try it. It truly does miracles.

oh what the hell, everyone else is ranting i guess i'll join...

people who irritate me...

manipulators – I know we all are guilty of a little harmless manipulation to get what we want every now and then, but I’m talking about people who like to twist your words around and play games and try to control you by manipulating. People who do this are pieces of and need counseling.

people who talk too much and/or talk over you and never let you get a word in. even after they ask you a question, what do they do? start talking again.

people who take themselves too seriously and take everything you do and say so literally. lighten up.

thugs who wear their clothes 10 sizes too big.

ghetto chicas who wear dark lip liner and exaggerate their Spanish accent and make those disgusting faces at you for looking at them. what kind of face is that anyway? are they trying to roll their eyes at you? they look like morons and I predict I will get in a pretty nasty fist fight with one of these girls in my lifetime.

spiteful, vengeful people who hold grudges for the dumbest . if someone raped or killed your mom, or screwed your husband...ok, that’s understandable. but we are all human and we all make mistakes. life is too short to waste so much negative energy on petty stuff...and it's all petty people.

people who act like sensitivity (or admitting you are sensitive) is a sign of weakness. not really. people who pretend they are “tough” and don’t know how to express themselves are really the ones who are weak.

people who talk on their cell phones and ignore the fact that they are actually operating a vehicle...

old men with money who look at me when i'm out with my mom instead of her...my mom is beautiful and independent and looks awesome for her age, yet they still look at me.
