I have this habitude of cracking my fingers, when i started it hurted but now i can do it easily..
Some people tell me not to do it cause they say it causes arthrytis (not correctly written i believe) but i read somewhere that it only fragilizes articulations
So discuss cracking fingers..=P Is it harmful, what does it do? |

It's a big habit of mine. I do it regularly, and can even crack my right wrist. I've had to have my mom refute countless claims by relatives that "cracking your knuckles is bad for you." My mom is a nurse, and cracking them does nothing bad for you. All they are are little air pockets in your fingers. No problems to worry about. |

I heard it increases your chance of suffering from Arthritis later on, but I'm not sure how reliable this information is...
One thing I know is that it's quite annoying :S |

quote: | Depending on your point of view, knuckle-popping sounds disgusting or cool. There is no evidence that cracking your knuckles inflames the joints and leads to arthritis. The cracking causes the bones to pull apart, forming a gas bubble and breaking the adhesive seal in the joint. Crack! About a quarter of the people in the U.S. crack their knuckles and might begin to lose their grip a little. Constant cracking can weaken the fingers. |

oh damn..
seeing the pic i remembered one thing: does cracking distorts fingers? i mean, imagine your finger was streight, then with the cracking, it would turn direction after the finger node.. |

i crack things a lot. i think the knuckles on my fingers are fatter because of it. plus people find it disgusting. also, i dont know if this is coincidence but i seem to have the most problems with the joints that i crack the most. |

I crack my fingers as well. I also crack my toes at times, and my knees, and my shoulders.
One of my fellow classmates were told by a nurse that it was ok to do it. So I have no idea where all this talking about that it's not good for you comes from... |
