Aight, well looks like i beat all you other crazy kids to the review...so, with my trusty spliff in one hand, i'm going to reflect back what was possibly the party of the year for me. Yup, self confessed breaks junkie that i am, i'm going to say it one more time -- Breaks kicks ass !!!
But i'm getting ahead of myself. So, lets backtrack...The night started perfectly, got to system by 11:00, no problem getting in (Mr John Tang -- you rock, even if one day i'll have to give you a UNITY!!!! jus cause :D ) The front room was jumping, i'm not the biggest fan of techno, but the TOTA boyz were representing hard, and i couldn't help bustin out on more then one occasion. The music, as well as seeing so many familar faces definately made the front room ( or as it is affectionately known - The holding pen ) a much more cooler place to chill at.
Once the door opened though, i couldn't help but migrate to the main room. The breaks were falling, and with each drop, they would call out to me -- the junkie needed his fix. After a perfect opened set, K-Swing steped to the decks. Ok, this might be a good time to point out the obvious -- K-Swing is one of the cutest female DJ I have ever seen. Right, now that's outtta the way, onto the important part. Not only is the woman a stunner, she's an absolutely great DJ as well. K-Swing dropped some thunderous breaks, layering them ontop of each other in a seemless set that had the faithful rooted to the floor.
Next up, the main man...The Godfather, the man needs no introduction to breaks fans, and Pilgrem showed us he came to Toronto to play. His trademark tough breaks had that Rennie quality to them. The perfect fusion of breaks and the nuskool. The floor was feeling it...and this in turn feed the DJ who threw done some prime cuts of nuskool breaks.
Finally, what would a System break night be without the local Boys taking the helm . From the dungeon that is the backroom, up stepped Big League Chu and Adam Saddler -- their moment to showcase the sounds that breakdown Toronto...the floor was left wanting more, the night wasn't over just yet...oh no. There was unfinished business here. And as the knowledable crowd supported their boyz, the night was bid farewell, to the unique sound of toronto breaks.
I guess this is where i get a little sentimental ( indulge me, i'm quite high ). TOTA's rock !!! There i said it. It needed to be said. So i did. Every single one i've met, has been mad cool. Your presence makes System nights feel like i'm partying with one big family. I'd give shoutouts to all those people i ran into, but my poor memory i know i'm going to miss some of you out. A big shout therefore to every single TOTA i had a chance to chill with last night -- It was an absolute blast -- and here's to hoping we meet again, on some dancefloor that stands empty.
Mad love and respect to the staff as System. From bouncer to bar tenderers you is some good peoples. :)
Finally...BIG BIG UPS to the DJ's...You guys make it happen. You know the crowd wants more...the dancefloor will reunite us again :)
And so, you ask why the big grin, Sid...well, i could tell you again just how good this night was...or maybe it's because of the CD's that i got from K-Swing and Big League Chu...yup, as i sign off with a peace to all my peeps, i'll allow myself to say....purrrfect. Cause that's what last night was. |

Well, it is nic eto be able to go to these events again. IT was nice to see some of the old TA crowd to make me feel right back at home again. Big ups to Eso, Endlesswave, ninja_pimp, Liam, Tordan and of Course My Nigga John!!
Nice tunes, many MANY new faces of TAs hope to introduce myself to you guys next time. Sorry I had to ditch the party early as I had to work in the morning (where I am now). Nice breaks!!! I have been getting into them as of recent. Best was the Breakz remix of the Cult. The TA talent in the front room was great some really nice bumpy tunez. I hope to see u all at the next event :) |

HOLY .
this is the best party i have ever been to, period.
i stared gettin cramps in my legs around 3 probably but i closed system dancing and then meet some nice people in front of club and went to CZ with them and STILL was dancing till hour and a half before now.
so in total it was like 9 hours of dancing, and not just DANCING but, man, i was ripping dancefloor apart LITERALLY.
DAMN IM GOOD :)
k-swing - holy mother of God is she pretty and good dj, she killed us, KILLED US, i was really surprised with her.song, mixing, and she was enjoying just like us. she has a newest number one fan in me and some day she will probably give birth to my 7 kids :)
pilgrem - now, that was AGGRESIVE, he truly is one of the best breaks dj in the world, im not gonna comment anything else, ill just add "YES, YES THIS IS RAW COMING AT YOUR DOOR".
BLC and saddler - what can i say about toronto's best?? always the same performance, FLAWLESS.
i saw neeta (nice seeing u neeta, next time we gotta go together and chill all night my friend, you're cute like button ;)), best 10 minutes of the night, and i really wanted to ask her to introduce me to some more ta's, BUT i was too busy dancing, so next time ill find some time to meet y'all (BUT if its breaks night, tough luck).
i amazed even my self, i had no idea that i had those moves in me i swear to God.
highlight of the night : i was dancing with cute litlle girl for most of the night (she's SICK dancer i'll tell ya), and before she went home she told me that she has never seen somebody breaking that like me (+phone number), im very proud of myself.
all in all 17 THUMBS UP, way way up, BEST PARTY EVER.
now :
sept 5 - dj icey and the gang in skybar
sept 24 - adam freeland and t6he rest @ system
HELL YEAH.
kytracid, lucky bastard, i really need spliff right now to help me ease the pain, enjoy it u bastard :D
p.s. i just remebered, neeta DID introduce me to one guy but i forgot your name , my bad, it wont happen again i promise :) |

Last night was so fun!!!! The TA dj's rocked!!!!
Tom spun some sick ass prog!! I thought it was hilarious when he was JUST about to mix this one song in, then John came up to him and asked him something. Tom pulled a quick recovery though!! haha :haha:
Jeromy & Kevin Earth spun some HARD banging techno. (jeromy, thanks for playing TaoTek, lol). :p
I checked out the main room a couple times, but breaks isn't really my thing. The front room was where I really wanted to hang out. We left at 2:30am, so I didn't get to check out the last TA DJ. I'm sure he rocked too!
Thanks for the beers, John... I owe you!! :D |

Wow ... I'm in total shock.
I didn't expect a turn out like that ... thanks to everyone who came out. I'm very glad to give all the DJs a second chance to prove themselfs. They all did such a great job on spining. I enjoyed every set. Tomeboy was a great opener, it's really hard to be the opening DJ. Mr.Rogers and KevinEarth was a excellent team up and we'll see more them in the future together. DJ Stylez was slick ... he was closed the night proppa trance!
Once again, thank you for all those who came out for the support! Hope to see you soon at our next event in Sept with Seb Fontaine.
Thank You

| glad to hear the night was a sucess- I would have loved to have been there to support the Jeremy and the other TOTA DJ's as well. I'm sure you did us all proud :) If I hadn't been still recovering from a retardedly bad summer flu I woudl have come out (i would have donned my blue 'flurry' boots for this occasion as well!). |

What an awesome night.
I was very suprised at the first 3 deejya's talent. I had never heard them before, but I'm glad I did. KevinEarth and MrRogers had me dancing like a madman to some banging techno.
I haven't been to a good techno party in so long!! |
