I had a customer at Best Buy, yesterday, who was wanting some relaxing music. I asked her if she listened to any New Age, and her response was:

"Oh Lord no, I'm a Christian woman."

WTF?!

Am I missing something here or did I just happen to meet one of those people who still think that The Beatles are the Anti-Christ?

Ha ha ha.

"New Age" is a collective movement that refers to MANY things. There is a spiritual part to it. Of course, some religious extremists will refer to anything not in their doctrine as "evil" or "satanic" or whatever. "New Age" is such a generic and wide-reaching term in itself, and by the way, the New Age is now mostly the old age since it was a projective future bit o' vocab back in the 60s and 70s and whatnot (if you've ever heard that song... "Age of Aquarius"). Except for that bit about the world ending in 2012 A.D., ha ha ;).

but you have to remember that New Age to Christians is satanic. That's talking about the religion, my mother had the same comment but when I explained to her that it has nothing to do with religion, she still kept away.

What TorontoTrance said....
My mom is a very religious person and she freaks out when she hears anything about New Age. The church preaches against the New Age movement so much and when music is deemed New Age is in inappropriately placed in that category. I hardly believe Enya, Enigma, or the like is Satanic. I understand why the more religious people are wary of things called New Age though.
