Hi. anyone has a good link to a free sample pack on the net with a couple of basic effect for trance productions?
Like reverse crashes, a couple of sweeping sound for the energy build up and things like that...
I had a good one before but lost everything on my harddisk...
Thanks in advance,

Reverse crashes are easy to do, just reverse a sample. Sweeping sounds....I assume you mean the kind done with white noise, again quite simple to do. |

Try Dorumalaia
This dude is a complete legend, is always posting up great packs of samples. There is an excellent "reverses" pack and good fx ones too. |

I'm downloading the packs from Doru Malaia's website
Thanks for the answers...
Keep'em coming!

try making them yourself :eyes:
play around with pitch, noise, filters, envelopes |

its more fun to make FX yourself + theres a bonus to doing it - you can custom design them to fit into your song as opposed to having to modify your song around a bunch of pre rendered FX. heres a few to get started. all these are made in vanguard.
1/ downward swooshing noise: on the osc add a white noise waveform and max out the volume. leave the other 2 oscillators clear. 0 fatness. on the lfo panel, set the lfo speed between 8 o clock and 10 o clock. leave the rest of the lfo panel. on the filter panel, set the filter type to band+shp1 or band+shp2. 0 cutoff. max resonance. on the envelop panel, for ENV 1 leave the attack, decay and release on 0 but set sustain to maximum. leave ENV 2. for the next bit you can either use your own delay/reverb or the one on vanguard. either way put a reverb on it with a long decay (between 3 and 5 seconds) and delay with mid to low dampening but lots of feedback.
you now have a downward swooshing effect. good for relaunching with.
2/ slow oscillating plane take off sound (sorry about these names): select white noise on the osc again. have the lfo speed at around 9 o clock and the cutoff at around 3 o clock. on the filter set the filter type to band 24db and have the cutoff around 10 o clock, maximum resonance. on the envelope, ENV 1 set the attack and release to 3 o clock, leave the decay on 0 and set the sustain and lvl to max. on ENV 2, leave everything as it is, you dont need it. now just whack on a loooong deep delay and you have a tiesto esque take off sound. thats good for relaunches too.
EDIT: you can make a whole bunch of mad sounds just by screwing around with the noise waveforms, the cutoff, the envelope sustain and decay and delay/reverb. add a second waveform (saw wave) and increase the attack on ENV 2 whilst using the arp on 1/64 intervals to create laser shooting effects or farting noises depending on the amount of detune.
i think vanguard has some preset FX but i dont remember any of them being really usable. in either case the best stuff you can get out ofvanguard are definitely to be found when you program stuff yourself. |
