| 27 days in Ibiza...it feels like I've been gone for 2 years. It was so surreal being in another country while this was going on. We found out 4 hours after it happened...we were having dinner at a restaurant, the news was blaring in spanish. Who sits at the legendary Cafe Mambo, drinking sangria & reading a newspaper while hysterically crying? Me! We were basically the only americans in Ibiza. September is when all the Americans come, for the closing parties, but flights were cancelled. Richie Hawtin & Derrick Carter couldn't fly & play at Cocoon's Closing Party. I felt so guilty lying on the beach & going clubbing. NYC will never be the same...its so sad. I just wanted everyone to know that I'm alive, my family & friends are ok. I will posting my reviews on parties, clubs,& DJ's shortly. John 00 Flemming must come to NYC! |

Hey Twilogoddess,
27 days in Ibiza is unimaginable! I was there from Sept 1st to the 9th! The Cream party with PvD at Amnesia was the best party I've ever been to in my life. But 27 days??? :eyes: WOW!!!
Here is my review of Ibiza:
From a post on another board on Sept 10th:
Okay everyone! As I promised, I am posting a detailed report about my trip to Ibiza. I just got back yesterday afternoon and a after much need 12 hour nap, I finally have enough energy to put together a few paragraphs about one of the most memorable weeks of my 27 years of life. If you are a hater who becomes jealous at other people’s happiness stop reading now. Otherwise please continue.
In a word, Ibiza was incredible! The island is beautiful. The people are gorgeous. The clubs and bars are amazing. And, the parties are fantastic. Moreover, the one thing that made my trip to Ibiza such an amazing experience was the vibe. The parties are filled with people that are incredibly happy and are out to have a great time. Instead of a party, try to imagine a celebration of the greatest day in your life. Remember the end of The Return of the Jedi, when the Rebels finally overthrow the Empire and blow up the Death Star? Try to imagine how the Rebels felt on that day. In all, I went to about 8 parties in 7 days. I’ll try to recount each party as best as I can.
Day One: As soon as I arrived, I immediately rushed to my hotel to change and attend the “We Love Sundays” party at Space. Headlining were Sasha and Digweed, Steve Lawler, Jimmy Van M, Jason Bye, and some others. In a word this was the perfect kick off party. Great vibe. Friendly people. And some kick ass music. I love Sasha and he definitely did not disappoint. I got to this party at around 9pm and left early because I was so tired from the long ass flight and all the delays I experienced, but it was still a pretty kick ass time. (BTW, this party started at 12pm and went until 8am the next morning.)
Day Two: Manumission at Privilege. Didn’t know who the DJs were but this party kicked ass. Privilege is the largest club in the world and I would estimate that there were at least 10-15 thousand people there that night. They give you a map as soon as you walk in, so clubbers do not get lost. Everyone on the island goes to Manumission on Monday nights. The vibe wasn’t a good as some of the other parties because many people were standing around watching the shows but the sheer extravagance made it worthwhile. I must have enjoyed myself because it was 8:30am by the time I left and I got there at around 12pm. That's 8 1/2 hours of dancing and partying!
Day Three: God’s Kitchen at Amnesia. This was one party that I was looking forward to. I was disappointed to learn the one of my favorite DJs (Tiesto) who has a bi-monthly residency here was not going to spin. Fortunately, Fergie, Ferry Corsten, and Maurco Picotto filled in nicely. Amnesia has great music and a great vibe and the club reminded both my buddy and I of Twilo in its heyday. If God’s Kitchen ever promotes a party in the US, I am so there. Anyway, the music here was some of the best I ever heard. One room was all funky house and techno, the other room was straight up trance. I dropped some e in this place and got a hot oil massage which kicked ass. Plus, I danced my ass off to Fergie and Ferry Corsten's melodic and uplifting sounds. This was one of the best parties I've ever been to.
Day Four: Subliminal Sessions at Pacha. Carl Cox was spinning at Privilege this night but I didn’t want to go to the same club 3 times in a week so I decided to check out Pacha. This was more of a chill out event, but was still one of the best clubbing experience of my life. This club is laid out really nicely with lounges everywhere and lots of little nooks and crannies to dance or chat with people. The party featured Darren Emerson, X-Press2, Junior Sanchez, Jon Carter, Touch, and Dave Phillips on the turntables and feature some of the hottest Spanish go-go dancers I have ever seen. GODDAMN!!!! In addition, I dropped some really nice XTC here.
Day Five: Cream at Amnesia. This was in a phrase – The best clubbing experience of my life! The music was spun by PvD, Christopher Lawrence, Oliver Klein, Herman Cattaneo, and Circulation. Van Dyke is my favorite DJ and I know he has his critics. However, even his critics must agree that PvD has a very loyal following and such loyalty usually packs a club with people who love him. In turn, this creates an awesome atmosphere with nearly every clubber screaming and cheering him on. I can't even begin to describe the emotions I was feeling in this place. When the party was over, I was so hyped up that I headed over to Space for a chill out session until about 11am. I then head to my hotel to sleep for an hour and then over to the beach to sleep some more. This was probably one of the greatest nights of my life. Definitely, the most fun I've ever had in one night without having sex.
Day Six: X-travaganza at Privilege. By this time, I was pretty much in bad shape. I had partied five days and nights in a row. In that time period, I drank about 30-40 cocktails, with only about 5-6 meals, and popped a ton of pills. So what did I do? Started popping more pills and head over to the final party of the week. I told my friends before I left that I was either going to have the time of my life or come back in a body bag. In total, I probably had about 5 or 6 pills that day. I had some in the morning at Space and about 3 at night at X-travaganza. The DJs were Alex Gold, Robbie Nelson, and Chris Finan. The reason I went to this party was that Blank and Jones were supposed to spin. However, they cancelled at the last minute. I don’t remember what was actually real or what was imagined at this party, but I’m sure I had a good time. I guess? I didn’t even bother going to sleep after this party. I was too wired from all the chemicals streaming in my blood. I just packed my clothes and my luggage and headed over to the beach. I think I might have gotten about a 1/2 hour of sleep in the car.
Day Seven: Beach party on the beach at Bora Bora. I checked out of the hotel and drove to Bora Bora which was a beach bar. Once I arrived, I rented a beach chair and umbrella and slept from about 12pm to 6pm. I was right next to the speaker so I was surprised that I even managed that much sleep. There were some pretty nice chill out tunes blasting on the beach so I am sure I was tapping my feet while catching some zzz's. When I woke up I heard some pretty kick ass music thumping behind me. The music was nice so I stayed for a while. About 2 hours before my flight, I took a quick dip in the ocean, rinsed off in the public shower, and headed for the airport. Thus ending one of the greatest weeks of my life.
Next year, I plan on going for 2 weeks. I am an Ibiza lover for life. |

| U picked a great wk to go! Sasha's b-day at Space was sick! I was there from 9pm-8am. He was MANGLED...closed with expander. I was at Godskitchen sept 4th. Unfortunately Mauro Picotto didn't play...Ferry Corsten played 1-3 then John 00 Flemming(awesome). Fergie closed. He played noise! Sept 5th I went to Technoclub @ Space for Overdose Label party. Scot Project was a no show regardless DJ Wag, Overdog, & Schwarze Puppen played. INSANE! I lost 3 lbs that night! Cream 9-6 Christopher Lawrence was really good. I liked PVD's set better at avalon. closed with for an angel again..kissed it threw it into the crowd. I caught it & then Push01 grabbed it outta my hands. I took 4423432 pix of paul..hehe. um where were the beautiful ppl? |

| Glad your back Daphna! Sounds like you had a great time there. Too bad it was slightly ruined from the terrorist attacks. I'm glad all your family and friends are well. Be sure to post some pics here...I've never been to Ibiza and would love to see it! Thanks! Hopefully the crew will go out again soon...like old Twilo style! Take care! |
