I'm driving down to NYC with a friend meet up with someone in Chinatown. I know parking is hard to find but is there street/location I should look in? Is it a complete mad house because of the convention or is that in another area? I can always take the train down but cost $30.

it's a madhouse in chinatown every day because of foot traffic, narrow streets, and lots of cars. the RNC is at MSG, which is about 4 miles up from c-town. u could find parking in another area of manhattan then just hop the subway down or something =P

Not directly in chinatown, but bowery, spring and grand streets are pretty good for parking

your best bet if you need to park in chinatown is division st or east broadway. personally i'd park in the village and train it down there...

i'm livin in this area right now and basically the free parking on the street is only usually after 6 p.m. till 8 in the morning or any saturday or sunday is all free. other than that u'll have to be looking at parking lots/garages or those meters on the side which are only 1 hour each.

If anyone cares the trip was a sucess i drove down parked on houston and took the train to ctown. Turns out they had a $11 garage in the middle of ctown, have to use that next time. I feel like i can drive anywhere now i've survived nyc. :eyespop:
