When I think of what are the most well-known tracks, that have had the most influence, I agree with tracks such as
Rolando - Knights of the jaguar
Umek - Gatex
Plastikman - Spastik
Rhythm is rhythm - Strings of life
Richie Hawtin - Minus Orange
Devilfish - Man alive
Johannes Heil - Paranoid dancer
Speedy J - Pullover
etc. Most of them are not really old but are well-known to lots of people.
For my personal taste, I prefer the deeper stuff from the likes of Jeff Bennett, Aril Brikha, Christian Lindner, Rob Acid and so on.. But I don't think those tracks are going to end up in some top 30, other than my own. |

It is widely accepted to be one of the most influential techno tracks.. It may sound a bit housey, but so do most of, if not all releases on the UR label, that's just a part of their style.
UR started releasing records when the difference between house and techno was not even significant (imo..)
And I think there is no real boundary between house and techno, both styles have got a lot in common and can be combined very well. Thinking in narrow genres is for the uncreative people anyway. |
