Currently taking this class which asks me to design and create a project that requires me to implement hardware/software. It can be a totally new idea that is not out in the market today or an improvement on a product that is out. Having trouble brainstorming ideas!! I don't want to make something too complicated or to simple also. I believe there's a $300 budget. its for an engineering course. -digital- DJ_Bod Take one of those robotic walking toy things, put a controller in it so you could make it walk a defined pattern. or some switches on it so it turns if it hits a wall. I'm sure you can get a lego controller and some prox switches for under 300. Just an idea. digitalbreach where's all the engineers/smart folks up in here? :stongue: digitalbreach Ok. Well this is the idea/project my team is working on. A voice activated door opener. We already bought a voice activated circuit board. We plan to use either a DC or stepper motor to do the actual work of opening and closing a door. However we are having hard time actually finding a stepper motor driver that would operate the motor hands-free. We are also straying away from micro-controllers since all the action we wish to perform is very simple and we also have a budget. However IC's are acceptable.
