Promise Cherry Beach Afternoon Soundsystem
Labour Day Monday, Sept 6, 3pm til late

This summer has seen an amazing string of Promise events on Cherry Beach and we're so glad it went by without a hitch. We had nearly 100 different djs play, many well known and some for their first time. There was always such diverse people who made it their own event and we were so happy to see people even bringing their kids down to boogie with them. Each week was different and you'd never be able to predict what you'd see next - people would bring down their own decorations and climb trees to put them up, people played croquet in full croquet dress, there were surprise balloon artists and amazing firedancers, a group brought down their lowrider bikes for an impromptu rally/show-off session, and we even saw a group of grade school boys trying to breakdance to jungle played by a dj visiting from Russia. There was even the odd sketchy group visiting from the Comfort Zone - maybe you were one of them ;).

This last Promise Afternoon Soundsystem of the summer is held on the holiday Monday and tonight we will be going a bit later than usual. Visiting are some special guests such as Abacus (who is expecting a baby soon, congrats), Adam Marshall, also Ali Black and Marc Debreyne will be playing their first back to back set ever, and our personal favourite ambient dj in the whole world Dj Aia is visiting all the way from Ottawa to play for us for the first time. Also we see a return of our favourite Samba percussion friends, Samba Elegua. We have a minor lost and found from the summer - some keys and even a full sized backpack with just a couple of objects in it. Reply to this email if you have lost something.

Screening of short film 'The Harvest Festival" by Marina Prospero and Brett Reason 9:30-9:45
This film was featured in last September's Online Film Festival and is about the Harvest Festival, with footage of the 2002 event. Marina is a great friend of ours and since we have known her she has been taking footage of every rave and major event we've ever been to. She has taken footage of parties all over the world and is devoted to preserving images of great events like the Harvest Festival.

Bring a frisbee, bring a kite, bring a handy sweater, bring a dog (only nice dogs), bring your lover and a hammock. And pass the time on this lazy
sunny afternoon with friends and friends of friends.

Take Lakeshore Blvd East of Toronto, just past Parliament Turn sound south down Cherry Street all the way to the parking lot at the end and go
east into the parking lot at your left. At the furthest east of the parking lot, walk along the bike path, then turn left up into the trail into the
woods…you'll hear music. If you end up at the lake, you are going the wrong way.

Biking to Cherry Beach is easy along the trails beside the lakeshore, and there seems to be a new bus service that goes all the way down to the
beach finally.

things to think about:
Please don't bring more than you plan to take back out with you - leave no trace.
Bring something warm and something to sit on and also something to keep sun off your head. Bring a picnic to share and don't forget cigarettes if
you smoke - please put your butts in a film canister and take them with you.
If weather turns foul the day of, call 323.0361 for the emergency update
