What went wrotn with this forum? I'll tell you....when Opinions became statements........
When ppl just thinkt that THEY are right and that everybody else is wrong....thats when the forum will end....cause this is a discussion forum! How can you discuss something if you cant let other ppl tell you theyr way of seing it and let them effect your way of thinking?
My opinion: I love uplifting trance and it has alot to give to me...
there is ALOT off different uplifting trax out there that DOESNT sound to the thypical Uplifting trax.........
Its just that when you arennot into it that much....you dont get the wonderfull hard-to-get trax......you just hear the Gouryella stuff and Fire&Ice stuff......Salt tank - Eugina (Leama mix) is a WONDERFULL 12 minute uplifting track that DOESNT have a catchy melody
and a break in the middle! Perhaps ppl need to be more open minded if this forum will work?
I cant understand Progressive trance yet....only somre track...but im still open for it..... I try to listen...and i try to give it a shot....... I love Cass & Slide - Perception ALOT for example! |

Just a few points (please tell me if I'm wrong):
1. TrancEaddict is a site for people who have fell in love with trance music.
2. TrancEaddict is a Trance site, not a techno one, hence the TrancE part.

How is uplifting Trance "?" You have made a statement, not an opinion, please feel free to tell us why. Please don't say it is repetitive or boring, as Techno is a highly energetic and repetitive sound, hence the PacMan signature. Also, good trance is not the commercial stuff, the good stuff is what true trance lovers like, like GOUYRELLA, Fire & Ice or Rank 1. I would hardly call them "lame, cheesy or ty." And I have to say I've never heard a melody that is exactly the same as Walhalla, Souvenir de Chine, or Urban Train once never mind 10 times.
4. And finally, uplifting Trance will never die, quality will always prevail. And, I believe, that as long as people seem to 'dis' Trance the way they are now, they do not allow themselves to fully appriciate the quality of the music. I am only 15 and I have liked Trance music since the day I heard Chiccane - Offshore, we love the old tracks because they got us into this knd of music. The oldies may be the best at the moment but Trance will progress and as long as we see new inventive Trance, like Silverblue, PUSH, GOURYELLA and the great Rank 1, the genre can only grow. We have only scratched the surface, the best Trance is yet to come. |

This doesn't make sense, this site is not only about trance! If you know the genres of electronic music you would have noticed that people here are talking about Hardhouse, Progressive, Deep-House and all sorts of other forms of electronic music. Swamper even posted (long time ago) a live-set of Sven Vath and a track by Dave Clarke. How do you mean this site is only about trance and not about techno?
It is nonsense that we should only talk about trance and not about other forms of electronic music.

Isn't it ironic that in your attempt to prove trance isn't commercial you mention some names that are as commercial and cheezy as hell!

Gouryella and rank 1 are not commercial cheese, i have never heard a Gouryella track on the radio, yes airwave was a commerical hit, but such as life i havent heard on the radio, i have in an armin set at a club tho:)

Ok, then i'll argue intelligently.
All tracks of Gouryella (Gouryella, Walhalla, Tenshi) and a lot of "big" tracks of Rank 1 (Airwave, Such is Life, remix of Superstring) made it to our (Dutch) national billboard top40. So they are commercial. Ok, so far the commercial part.
To be cheezy it isn't nessecary for a song to be broadcasted on the radio. In my opinion, and with me are a whole lot of people, almost all uplifting is cheezy. I think so about 90% of the uplifting is cheezy. Why? Because uplifting trance is exhausted. A while ago I used to listen to uplifting trance and I liked it, believe me. But it became boring... nothing "new" was made. It was all about "been there, done that" if you know what I mean.
That's partly the reason why I consider most of the uplifting trance as cheese. |

I apologise for the insult, but I was annoyed at such a negative and pointless post.
Misiek, if you don't like uplifting trance that's fine, but that comment was extremely negative and pointless. If you don't like uplifting trance at least givce a reason. Don't go about saying "Uplifting trance = ". It's also pretty ironic because I had a look through your posts and you said Kai Tracid "Too Many Times" was your favourite tune. That's pretty ironic if you ask me.
And it's ridiculous to say all uplifting trance is cheesy. Here's some examples of uplifting trance
Loveclub "The Journey" (Trouser Enthusiasts Remix) - On the Platipus label which is about as far from cheese as you can get.
Salt Tank "Eugina" (Michael Woods Remix)
Kayama Painters "Far From Over"
These tracks are all uplifting and have no cheesy elements in them at all. If you can prove me wrong go ahead. |

| soz Jukx but i have to disagree with virtually everything u just said! all uplifting is cheesey? urban train? push - the legacy? rapture? ok i agree with you about a song isnt cheese just coz it made it big in the charts, but to rule all uplifting trance as cheese is madness. cheese is many tracks are annoying high pitched vocals, such as fragma with catchy tunes or quick build up and then catchy sounds, like darude, atb also, he uses the same sound in all his tracks, well many, daude also uses the same sound, but how can u say there is nothing new? when urban train released everywhere exploded! recent uplifting releases, take urban train and the legacy, i have never heatd ouwt like them before. if u hate uplifting, do you go clubbing? |

Jukx, you have missed the major part of the quote, some of Rank 1's stuff may have leeched into the commercial sector, but nevertheless it is not [QUOTE]lame, cheesy or ty |

And TrancEaddict is still and always will be a predominantly Trance site, hence the name. There are some posts about other music, I indeed myself have posted about other Genres on this forum before, but not to 'diss' them like you seem to.
How can you say 90% of uplifting trance is cheese, when the majority of trance tunes today are spread about the Trance spectrum, leaving less uplifting stuff. Tunes of recent are not what i would class as cheese whatsoever. If you would like to furthur define WHY you disklike this furthur, please do go on, but be specific, so we can answer back relevantly, as this could go on forever.
Finally, I started this thread to discuss the history of uplifting trance, not for a slanging match of Trance V Techno. |

Ok the deal is that maybe I little bit exaggerated my statement about Uplifting Trance being ""...ok then. Maybe for some of you its not. But my point was that i dont like UpliftingTrance these days. I've listened to electronic music for 6 years now, and started listen to TECHNO 2 years ago..and im talking about pure underground techno like ...minimal..detroit etc..before that ive listend to trance, sure there are some classix around that i still may like, but i just dont like all that tracks these past years or so that come out,just like Jukx said they are same melodies that you have heard 10 times before. When starting to listen electronic music people just cant go and listen to producers like umek,chris liebing,pacou, surgeon,neils landstrumm etc right away, it takes time.. ive started liking trance and then moved to techno after long period of time. And respect to all the people that like uplifting trance and stuff like that, i personally like also Acid Techno and Goa Trance very much, i just cant stand producers like barthezz and all that commercial top 40 tracks ...so thats my deal. Also i like Tekkno more cuz I like bursting with energy, a lot of energy like i go crazy to that phat strong repetitive beatz and trance, it just works on my mind..like a lot of things come to my mind and stuff like that u guys know what i mean,dreaming and and i dont like that i like WYPIERDALAC!! (i had to use some polish here ;)) i just like goin en crazyy to those tekk beats...and then when i finally get home, i also like to play some chill out..and then again Minimal strikes my winamp list...ok thats it ..sorry to all of you that got pissed cuz of my statement
