How To Stop Bass From Clashing With Kick?
View this Thread in Original format

Hey guys,

I'm still in the process of mixing down, and I'm using a jumping bass on one of my tracks, yet it clashes with the kick on some notes...

Is there anyway of getting around this? I still would like to keep the sound of the bass... Any equing or compressing tips that may help?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by a jumping bass, but anyway ...

If the bass plays at the same time as the kick, consider not doing that.

If the bass must play at the same time, definitely use EQ to separate the two, there are many threads regarding this on TA

Also you could consider ducking the bass, using sidechain compression. Again, there are many threads about this on TA

good luck!

That was a real help :p. J/K.

Thanks for the quick reply.

A jumping bass means different chords, not just your regular kick bass kick bass. Random bass to say the least..

If you can point out any threads or even better yet give some suggestions on what frequence's to eq and how much, it could really be of help. I did my reasearch, even then I really really suck with it, EQ especially.
