Ways to save CPU Usage in FL

Thought I would make a post on this, for all newbies and other interested peeps, as I know a lot of people have problems with CPU usage, as I do.

1. Try recording big VSTI leads and pads as WAVS and then use the wavs instead of running the VSTi's realtime. This saves LOADS of cpu usage.

2. If using a lot of fx, don't forget that nearly all VSTi's have there own effects on them, which you can automate aswell. http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=207361

3. Close all other applications down when producing.

4. Try not to use the inbuilt fruity appeggiators and echo features.

Just a couple of pointers anyway. If any1 else has got any other ideas, then feel free to jump on the bandwagon. This sort of post would of been really helpful for when I started producing.

If the cpu usage on a song you do gets really high, you can dramatically reduce it by going to > options, song settings...and change the timebase to 24

it shortens the length of the notes slightly and you cant zoom in as much on the piano roll, but the cpu usage is much improved, and as soon as you go to render, or need to edit something, you can change it back to 96.

Also make sure the midi out is not enabled (Options > Enable Midi Output)

Good tips there!!!

yea i think recording your vst patterns is huge, now with the 4.5 PE all you have to do is put the wav at the bottom of the mixing board, very cool feature.

Dont forget to use your sound card's lovely ASIO drivers. Using these can save alot of your PCs computing power for more important things.
