Unfortunately, due to personal matters, I won't be able to make the gig here in SF tonight. Yes, I'm bummed, but much more important things are at hand.

There was discussion of a meetup with Armin and Markus in SF, but at the time I was being told Markus was going to be on when Ruby Skye opened at 9pm, which means that the meetup would have had to take place at like 6pm or 7pm, which is just too early for a Friday night in SF w/ most people spread out everywhere, traffic getting into the city, etc...so it never really materialized.

I will make the LA gig tomorrow night, though.

ok, here's my mini-review.

1st, I arrived to find out my name wasn't on the guest list like it was supposed to be. BOOOOOOOOOO!. So they know since I am there,
there's no way I am just going to leave, so I got ganked for $30 cover! (and I couldn't even charge it! No iDine miles. Double Booo!).

Ok on to the good stuf. I heard about the last hour of Markus' set. Smooth, progresive, but sometimes hard, set. Markus was, well, Markus. You da man!

Armin came on around 12:45, and took us on a sweet journey all the way til 4:15. Good crowd still there, and screaming for more. There were two encores. I heard Armin play a lot of tracks I have not heard anywhere yet, not in live sets, not in ASOT!!! Awesome!!!
Armin gave us just the perfect mix of melodic, raise your hands in the air trance, and then some good bangin tracks mixed in with snare rolls, cymbals, rolling bass lines, you name it. Oh, and the funktion 1 sound system sounded great! In the center of the dancefloor, it was just.....sweet. Even with earplugs, I came away with my left ear ringing. Oh well, the price you pay for some good fun with Armin.
Overall, a great set. I was very happy.
Hope we didn't keep the guys out too late for y'all lucky ducks in LA!

We got there around 11pm so we were able to hear Markus for an hour and a half and he did rocked the place...highlights were Taurus (schulz remix), Largo (In a club is amazing), and he ended his set with Oceanlab - satellite (Schulz Remix) which was soooo good, that sound system was bangin....Markus is sooo the , I hope he comes back to SF soon!

Armin got on around 12:30ish and dropped some huge tunes right off the bat like Perry - Wave Force among others and the crowd went totally nuts, I especially liked hearing Enmass - CQ, The Thrillseekers - Synaesthasia (Ferry Corsten Remix), Audioholics - External Key, and so many great tunes I can't even list them all plus I'm exhausted and my ears are still ringing! I also heard a lot of fresh tunes I've never heard from Armin so it was really nice that he mixed his set up and he threw in some really hi-nrg hard trance in the set as well which was great....anyways I didn't get to stay the whole time because the friends I was with were tired and we decided to go at 3:30 but they were totally impressed with Armin and Markus and I told them they would :p

I'll post some pics I took tomorrow when I'm recovered...

PS. I DIED! :D

Does anyone remember the tune Armin played right after the JXL remix of Sarah McLachlan's "World On Fire"? It had a awesome cold feeling to it, almost like an old Aphex Twin ambient tune with drums laid over it. I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. :(

my small review:

so we got there around 10:30 or so, had a bit of trouble with parking at first but managed to solve it pretty quickly. 2 of 5 friends decided to drop out because they were too tired. was a lil disappointed but wasn't about to let it ruin my whole night. :p

got there and was like 'uhh where's the line for will call?' and had to go to the 'map point' :stongue: to get the ticket to get in. it wasn't crowded at all yet and Markus was on so we decided to walk around to check things out since it was our first time there.

about 30 minutes later, suddenly EVERYONE seemed to show up at once. :eyespop: i'd have to agree with sweetcandy tho, the crowd at RS isn't quite as courteous as other places. there's a lot of shoving and pushing w/o any apology or 'excuse me' before or after the fact. =/ *sigh* ah well...

anyways, Markus was pretty awesome, only heard him make one small mistake during the time i was there. he used quite a variety of music as well.

then Armin came on and of course people went absolutely insane. totally agree with fupa with the type of trance Armin gave us that night. it's like he was determined to hit us with build up after build up, great . was definately great to hear Synaesthasia and Communication, and a few other songs i know by ear but not name. :p but while the crowd did have a lot of energy, i was still getting pushed and shoved with little regard so around 1:30, i decided to just chill upstairs for a bit. around 2:45 tho, i just said screw it, went back downstairs and slowly worked my way towards the front. i love just watching this man spin because he didn't just move the crowd with his music, he gets into as well, and you can see from the cute boyish smile on his face that he loves his job. and of course, we love him doing his job. :gsmile:

augh when he went to the edge of the stage to shake hands and sign people's stuff tho, i got soooooo squished. x.x i accidentally ended up kinda shoving my arm into this lady's face in front of me, so i smiled and said 'sorry i'm getting pushed from the back' but she just gave me a dirty 'whatever' look. :( yeesh...

ah well, overall it was a good night for me, even with the small problems and annoyances, and even now the ringing in the ears, sore body and fuzzy feeling head. :happy2: *goes off to swallow more pain relievers*

It was my first time at RS and it was amazing. Great show.

WHEW! What a weekend! First I had a blast partying to some of the biggest DJ's on the globe, and then I got wasted at home with a bunch of friends. Been a fantastic weekend for me so far.

Here's my review:

My friend and I pulled in to SF around 11 p.m., but we spent the next 20 minutes trying to find parking. We thought that we could save some extra cash by parking in a residential area and then walking to the club, but this proved difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. We found a spot on Jackson, but it was quite a ways walk to the club. Plus we had to hike over one of those oh so famous, San Francisco hills, so by the time I got in line for the club, I was already sweating. We got in no problem from there. Security didn't even bother to pat us down. Made it onto the dance floor by 11:30 where Markus was just dropping Taurus. Oh man! That song sounds so friggin' bad on that sound system! First song I heard that night and I was already dancing.

After a couple of minutes, I thought I'd walk around the club, and try to see if I could find any TA's. But that proved to be just about impossible. After all, it's not like they come in holding giant neon signs over their heads. So about 20 minutes of futile searching, I went back to the dance floor and did my own thing. The crowd was about a decent size while Markus was spinning, but by the time Armin came on around 12:45, the club was packed, and thus soon became the problem of the overly rude crowd.

Yes, I have never been to a club before that had such a violent and forceful crowd. Even when I went to see Oakenfold at 1015 where every little inch of space was taken up on the dancefloor, the pushing and shoving still couldn't compare to this night at Ruby Skye. Even at times when there was room, I still had some jackass come from behind and hit me on the shoulder. Even the f***ing girls too! You couldn't believe my surprise when I did get knocked down from the back rather hard and I almost fell. When I turned to look in the direction of who had done it, it just so happened to be some damn 5 foot 2, 100 pound Asian girl who had the whole "snob" look to her. Damn I just wanted to grab her by the neck and fling her across the dance floor. Bitches. Anywho, I tried not to let it bother me, and even though I did get pissed off several times, I was still able to keep in flow with the music. When Armin was up I had worked up to the front of the crowd, but as his set progressed I went back to the middle. The front was just too damn violent. At least in the middle there were more raver types: people with photons and light fingers who were all laughing and smiling and hugging each other. I was coo' with dat. All in all, a great night. No Modesto club could ever compare to this. It was definitely great to see the two radio giants, Armin and Markus come together in one venue and completely enjoy themselves. You can easily tell they hold a lot of respect for each other.

Oh yeah, some songs I ID'ed from Armin's set were: Perry O'Neil-Wave Force, Audioholics-External Key, Sarah Mclachlin-World on Fire (Junkie XL Mix), and Nathan Fake-Outhouse. I do believe that was the tune that Epsilon CN was referring too. Outhouse came on right after World on Fire. Now that that's been said, I'll get back to getting over my hangover.
