After months of preparation, many late nights in front of a computer screen, tonnes of encouragement and even more help and advice, I am chuffed to bits to be able to announce that I am now on the road to producing under the pseudonym ‘Elixir’
For me, this marks the opening of a whole new area of music as I am now able to make my own personal, and hopefully notable, contribution to trance music. I can now not only build my sets around other artist’s work which was previously the case, but also make my sets much more unique and individual.
The first of my two projects is well underway with one of Scotland’s brightest up and coming production stars, Stevie Hunter. Working for Scotland’s biggest club, ‘Room At The Top’ has given Stevie years of well-polished experience in navigating the technical minefield that is modern trance production. A true professional who takes passion and pride in his work, Stevie is a technical wizard, always able to create the perfect sound which either makes or breaks a tune. Stevie currently produces under the alias ‘Timefactor’ for his uplifting trance and ‘Route 1’ for his deeper, more driving progressive trance. Our first production remains to be given a name, but it is in a melodic and energetic style, full of emotive strings, a warm and catchy melody and a driving bassline. Check out Stevie’s website and examples of his other work at www.tfproductions.co.uk
My second project is also underway, this time with St John, one of the finest and most well known amongst the new breed of DJ Producers from the UK, paving the way for the next generation to follow. St. John’s debut production ‘Mindcircles’, produced with Locust aka Perry O’Neil, head honcho of Armada label Electronic Elements, was snapped up last year by Armin and signed to his label A State Of Trance and found its way onto many a mix CD and still into many a DJ’s set. As well as for ASOT, John has also produced for DJ Precision’s label Somatic Sense and he has recently been appointed the A&R for Abora recordings. Fresh from working with John O’Callaghan on their new collaboration ‘Mechanical Dreams’, our production is also yet to be named but is being written as a mid-set trance track somewhere between progressive and uplifting with a carefully layered melody and plenty of intensity. Check out John’s website at www.djstjohn.co.uk for details of his other productions.
On a personal note, I have been given a fantastic opportunity to work with two experienced, talented and genuinely unselfish guys and I’d like to thank them for helping me realise another dream. If the work so far is anything to go by, and if everything planned takes shape, we’ve got some truly great times to come! I’m sure that anyone whose started producing before me will know the feeling I have at seeing a whole world of possibilities open up ahead of me, limited only by the imagination.
Over the coming weeks, Stevie and I will be acting upon valuable feedback, applying the finishing touches to the track, as well as giving it a name. As soon as it’s ready, posting a sound clip up and opinions and feedback from fresh ears would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to unleashing it live in the near future!
