WTF do you mean? Radio 1 orgaised the love parades and the first one was wicked! The 2nd would have been even better, but typical ty north east council wouldn't allow it! The illegal parties we're still great though and I met loads of nice people from all over the country! |

The first one consisted of a load of floats doing a circuit round a park :rolleyes:
The loveparade has always been a demonstration, its lost this status recently but thats where its origins are. In the UK the loveparade is a commercial event.
This is not what the loveparade is about
You should hear what Dr. Motte has to say about the 'uk loveparade' :haha: |

| the loveparade is about berlin and berlin only. any of these 'other' parades, ie the san fran one, the uk one etc. are all just commercial takes on the real thing. i'd like to read what dr motte said about the uk one, do you have a link? |

I was there - and it was crap. None of the traditional BLP DJs would play because they thought a UK LP was a idea - to me that says it was not a proper Love Parade. The politics of the Berlin LP is what makes it. it's something you cant recreate in any other city, but I do think the LP in Tel-Aviv is/was a really good idea.
Dr Motte gave Pete Tong a lot of a couple of years ago about the UK Love Parade on Radio 1 - and it was well deserved. |

The Space Brothers with Shine (commie remix) is just a killer tune, the vocals are divine. I even put it on nr.3 in my top ten I posted in the other thread. That one set (even though i only have half of it :() and the fact that JJ made me know this track still makes JJ one of my fav dj's

I dont care what the berlin love parade is about. The simple facts are:
1) Its about music!
2) Its a free event, even the DJs play for free too.
3) Its a chance to celebrate and dance, share our love for music etc.
Nearly every major UK DJ was in attendance, all the best clubs in the UK took part. Its not a commercial event!
The problem with some of you peeps is that you get far to tied up in scene, just relax a little. The more underground something gets, the less appealing it is to the majority, alas you are with the minority.
Oh, and no-one gives a what Dr Motte thinks anyway, if he doesn't like something then he should shut the up! |

You really should care about what the BLP is about. It's vital to understand it, to understand DJs like PvD for example becuase the music and the politics is connected in so many ways. The BLP was a backlash against the oppression of Communism, and it was about bringing together people from the East and the West, and uniting them.
It's something that we cant really understand in the UK because we havent had that sort of oppression. The UK LP was simply a way to promote Radio 1 and the clubs that took part. It was totally commercial. Many argue that a similar thing has now happened with the BLP, but you cant argue with the origins being completely sincere and honest. However at the Leeds LP you only had to walk out of the train station and there were stupid amounts of people selling you love parade merchandise. If that isnt commercial, I'd like you to tell me exactly what is.
The other factor is that English people just cant seem to get together and have fun the way that our European neighbours can. I was only 15 when I went, and spent half the time terrified, because of the amount of pissed of lager louts shouting, swearing and causing kaos. |
