Looking for a sample

I need a sample of the sound a record makes when you take the needle off. Well not on recent turntables, but you know back in the day or in films where you see someone take the needle off and it backs that horrible ripping sound. Or the same noise when you knock a vinyl and it scratches across it. I need that noise, but I don't know how to go about getting it without deliberately ing up a vinyl. :stongue: Can anyone help out?

Silent sample? When you take the needle off you get no sound or do you mean a static sounding sample?

PS. Nothing wrong with Vauxhall cars!

Maybe if you read the entire post instead of being a smartass you might get it.

If you read the rest of my reply instead of being a smartass you'll find I re-worded what he was asking!

No you didn't.
He's looking for a sample of a needle being ripped through the vinyl like he clearly wrote, not static noise...

get the kontakt demo from the NI website. get your mixer wired up to your soundcard via s/pdif. go down to oxfam and buy any record. preferably one of the 50p ones and one which you WANT to destroy. oxfam has many records i would like to destroy. take it home, drop the needle on it while sampling it to disk.

Yea something like that, cheers. Bit of a coincidence actually when I went to bed last night I put my family guy dvd on to watch, and where Meg and Lois are on stage at some concert during spring break the police come and break up the party. When they do this the exact noise i was talking about happens. So I can just record straight from there..

Cheers anyway folks.
