Do you actually believe these reviews? Reviews dont mean anything because its all about some geeks in glasses and trying vodka, stating that its the best. I haven't tried Magadanskaya Vodka but I did tried many other vodka's and Polish vodkas's are the best there is. Magadanskaya sounds like a great vodka but 1 vodka for an entire country doesn't state that its the best out there ;) You can say the same thing about Grey Goose

I believe a few, but not all of the reviews. In fact, that was the only review that I was even able to find for Magadanskaya. It is rarely found here in the States. I've tried countless vodka's and can say with assurance that despite the fact that there are some exceptional Polish vodka's out there (such as Chopin), they still don't compare to Magadanskaya. (It's also the only vodka distillery in the world that uses natural mineral water, so that may play some small part in it.)

What were you saying about one vodka for an entire country? I didn't quite understand that part.

Grey Goose is great, but I would never consider it the best. I'm assuming that you didn't know that Grey Goose is owned by the American Bacardi Corporation.

In regards to one country having better vodka's than the others, you also have to consider that Eastern Europe has undergone many hundreds of years of geopolitical change and has seen many overlapping territories throughout it's history - as well as a routine of interfamilial marriages between it's diverse inhabitants. Poland itself has definitely had a turbulent history, which I'm sure is something that they taught you in school.

Anyway, Genoese merchants brought vodka to Lithuania in the late 1300's so neither Poland nor Russia can lay claim to it's invention. (So please pass me the Krupnikas ;))

Of course you can probably argue my previous point by saying that Poland-Lithuania was it's own, independent country at one point so the knowledge of vodka distillation was undoubtedly shared throughout.

There are more than a few other Russian vodka's that are worthy of praise but they aren't too readily available so you won't see them rated in many (if any at all) vodka taste tests.

Here's two:
