I’m not even sure the name of any of them besides the bongo, but i’m talking about the one that straps around your neck and that you play with sticks. What are they called?

Does anyone play these? If so, how did you learn? I'd love to learn how to play them.

i just remembered...i had a dream the other night that i was tag-teaming with Antoine Clamaran, and while he was spinning, I was playing bongo drums for him!

i can play the eastern version of it which is called a tabla which looks like these

and here are tribal drums

but to answer your question, these are bongo drums

you can strap on a pair of these and they are played with regular snare drum sticks or the special bongo sticks depending on what sound u want. The difference is only in the make of the drum. The more modern bongos can be played with the regular drum sticks but the more traditional ones require more expensive sticks that have a special tip... they both roughly make the same sound to the average ears.

on a side note, the main difference between bongos and tribal drums is that bongos can be tuned very much like a snare drum. Tribal or tabla can't be tuned and you can never get a pair of the same size to sound alike. With bongos, u can have that luxuary of having the same drums in tune.

yea i've heard about that.... one mind, one heart, one groove. no experience needed just go out and have fun.

Drumming is alotta fun. I love the sound any percussion instrument makes... The most fun to play are bongo or tribal drums. Freestyle it as much as u want and the end result always sounds good just because of the quality those type of drums make... very addictive.
