Hong Kong / Guangzhou Info needed please!
It looks like I will be in Hong Kong and Guangzhou near the end of the month. I am wondering if anyone could tell me of club listings and other good events and places to see.

I don't know of any true dance clubs in Guangzhou. I went to some bars there and they're basically fronts for brothels. :stongue: Lots of "bar girls" around.
In Hong Kong I went to some decent clubs, most of them full of ex-pats and most on Hong Kong island in the Lan Kwai Fong district. It's really easy to get to by subway.

Guangzhou actually has one of the most active nightlives in China. it had a scene before Shanghai and i think right after Beijing. might even be in par with. or ahead.

Beijing has way better clubs than Guangzhou from my experience. They really like hard house and techno there; not too much trance in Beijing.
I have no idea where the clubs are in Guangzhou. I went to that area near Shaiman Island on the waterfront. There's a long row of bars there.
edit: prostitutes in the Beijing clubs are more aggressive than in Guangzhou in my experience. :eyespop:

I hate to say this because I mean no disrespect to Asians, but in Beijing they came up to me and propositioned me literally the same way as in Full Metal Jacket. sucky sucky, etc. I was one of the few white guys there so I stood out I guess. |

haha no disrespect. i guess the same thing happened to me, except more subtly. at first i thought they NEEDED it and so i took out my wallet. then i analysed the situation, and realised what was happening only after the bitch took my 20 [kuai, luckily] and walked off.
someone told me later that if i had given/offered her more, i would have gotten something in return.
it's like that.
