Its because his style went from progressive trance (2001) to chunky, funked up progressive house - THATS why.

Jeff, you're right. Even though I like trance WAYYY more than house, I can't say I really like Prog trance... I find it "swishy" to use Sly_Guy's terms. Some prog trance is okay, don't get me wrong.
But when I listen to James Holden's E Mix from a few years ago, I just can't get into it? To "swishy"...

Sander has awakened the dirty funky prog lover in me...his CDs and Live @ Fokused set...and Zabiela's Essential Mix...awesome stuff...can't wait for this CD release!!! |

I've just started listening to Sander recently, thanks to a friend who keeps sending me his cd's...he DEFINATELY gets my feet moving when I'm chillin around the house!!
Haven't had the pleasure of partying to the sounds of Sander yet, but it's only a matter of time!!:D |

I'd say the whole of the scene has taken on that "chunky" sound now.
Stripped down german electro sounding beats ripe with grinding synths. You can actually pin point a lot of the trends especially as of late, Bennassi, Ferry Corsten, Sander was ahead of the lot. I'd even make an argument for Digweed playing the "funny bass sound origin" as of late. |
