I've always held that opinion about anyone who says that hockey has to stop dumping the puck at times and I'm so sick of it and they really do need to stfu.
See I don't get why people think that dumping the puck = boring hockey. Hockey was never meant to be pretty, was it? and last I checked you never got points for how pretty the goals were and last time I checked the team who scored the most goals, no matter how ugly they were. I'm sick of people saying we have to change the game to make it more appealing to others. Canada's game vs. the Czechs was dump and chase and darn exciting. Canada's game vs. Finland was a battle of neutral zone traps but still was exciting. The same people are the ones that want us to take out the redline so that Europeans can score more goals by being further down the ice. The game has not really changed in a long time and the hockey has been great and poor at times, so why change it to suit a more television audience. The great thing about hockey, when I played was that it was strategy vs. strategy, it was coming up with ways to defeat the neutral zone trap.
The World Cup shows what happens when skilled players play together, you get higher skill and more scoring and they can all score but you know teams like that won't happen due to the cost of salaries. It was nice to watch the World Cup because there won't be hockey till 2005 now. |

I stated that I found dumping the puck boring, that is all, I didn't say they should stop doing it (ban it) / have rules preventing it from occurring - just that I found it boring. YOU took it upon yourself to tell me to 'stfu' based upon your own opinions.
How about looking into those religious beliefs of yours and looking up respect, it would do you some good. |

See I don't think Hockey should have to change, it has been around a long time without many big issues (cept the current CBA problem). See if we did ban the dump and chase rule, the game would have been horrible tonite, neutral zone trap without it. I think that the smarter coaches find ways around problems and that's what I love about the game, it is relatively simple to play but incredibly complex at times at a high level. |
