Still sprinkles and now a little breeze. I've seen heavier dew than this! C'mon Ivan bring it!

:D

P.S. I'm slowing on about 14-15 beers right now. Gotta liven up...

Hope you had a big dinner. And remember not to mix any hard liquor in there, or you'll end up hunched over the porcelain throne like I did on the weekend of 8/27-8/28. One night I had like 15 beers, the next night 6 screwdrivers, then Sunday morning, out my car door I puked. :wtf: :sadgreen: Then the toilet. Then the road again. I was so hung over, it lasted 3 days.

Piece of cake. I was in Korea when a typhoon hit and we were in the field. Had to unass the place because they were predicting 8 inches in 4 hours. We were up against a damn mountain and had to ford a stream that was over vehicle hood high and I mean duce and a half high. Forded all weapons, etc. first, then went back to get the Joes without weapons and gear in case the vehicle rolled and they had to swim for it. Interesting times. Wouldn't trade it for nothing.

Hah!

Hey Smoke...be safe! ;)

More fun when we rolled a 5 ton full of troops upside down in a rice paddy one time. Thankfully no one got hurt real bad. F*cking farmer wanted us to pay for damage to his field. That was nothing. I can tell you about some real intentional manuever damage with tanks and armor during the old Team Spirit missions. Damn Korean tank cut across a road and almost took out the truck I was driving in the middle of the night. Just vehicle damage, not human. Great times.

Diehards carry on drinking as Ivan closes on New Orleans

As Hurricane Ivan tore across the Gulf of Mexico towards them, the inhabitants of America's most notoriously hedonistic town did one of two things. The majority obeyed a mandatory evacuation order, leaving behind them a ghost city of boarded-up windows and sandbagged shopfronts.

The rest got drunk.

Bourbon Street, the fabled main drag of the New Orleans' French Quarter, remained a tiny oasis of intoxication as the first gusts of wind began to disturb the languid heat. Stubborn residents and stranded tourists strolled the cobble-stones - drinks in hand, thanks to an unusual bylaw - and tried not to think about the storm that has already devastated Grenada and parts of Jamaica, and prompted states of emergency in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

"We don't run from hurricanes - we drink them," read one sign daubed on plywood, referring to the rum-and-lime cocktail that most bars were dispensing at a dollar a glass.

At the Razzoo Club, on Bourbon, the festivities were in full swing by Tuesday night, the partygoers placing their faith in a combination of God and alcohol.

I like the part about God and alcohol. Ivan's starting to blow a little now, but I don't mind standing out in the rain because I'm waterproof!

Note: Not quite drownproof, but I'm on high ground and almost drowned about 3 times already in my life, so I'm a little more careful.

Oh yeah, and back to Korea. I didn't mention death. I saw more dead people from highway accidents, accidents in the field, etc. than I ever want to see again, dozens and dozens. You get those thrills free of charge when you enlist.

JM
that website up above says the following:

"There's a bigger being taking care of us, so it's up to the good Lord," said Midge Starr, a native of New Orleans, emerging on to the sidewalk with her arm around Rico Garcia, from Chicago. He said: "I'm pretty much stuck here. So when the storm finally hits, we figured, she and I'll go home and have a hurricane party. Just sit back and relax."

YIIIIIIIIIIIIHAAAAAAAAAWWWWWW

also this one:

"Another British conferencegoer crystallised the attitude of many out-of-towners: "We are not scared. We are not scared because we are so naive that we have no idea what to expect."

:toothless
