Unlike many other middle eastern countries, UAE actually welcomes such ethnic mixes more than alotta other muslim countries in and around the Gulf area.

i'd like to visit the UAE one of these days. one of my ex-coworkers was telling me about a very enticing job offer she got over there which i might consider as well..

tho it seems that a lot of people like to boast about the UAE given the wide misconceptions that some in the west seem to have about the middle east. i think with time, that place will set its own reputation among great places to live in the world without us having to big it up.

As always. People in North America are quite ignorant about whats outside of their continent. No offense.

And some people are pretty ignorant in making generalizations about North Americans...

the Binladengroup is actually a huge family from Saudi Arabia. The Royal Saudis usually have more than one marriages.

(sarcasm on)

Really?

You mean to tell me that the family's name is "Binladengroup"? No way!?!?

You also mean to tell me that Al Saud is the Royal Family? No way!?!?

(sarcasm off)

I think to go for a couple of years would be awesome.
Enough to get an understanding of the culture and have an awesome experience.
For you younger ones just coming out of school, I say, "Go for it!!".
Believe me, everything will still be the same when you get back and you'll have a feather in your cap to boot.
Plus you'll have a greater appreciation for the world.

Not to hijack :thepirate but has anyone seen The Motorcycle Diaries?

Alright kiddo. I usually wont reply to such a post. But I will only cause you plan on moving to this part of the world or atleast dream to.
I agree it was a big generalization on my part. And also that canadians are way less ignorant then most americans that ive come across. Im just posting my own views. I have been asked this question a lot when I was there: so, do you live in mud houses?!?!
hahhahaa..........now thats quite ignorant. Maybe you dont think so. I wouldnt be surprised.

Yes I mean to tell you that the family name is binladengroup. People tend to name their companies after their family names. And Im sure that this is the name cause I know of UN developers in the 3rd world who deal with them.
Where did this Al-Saud name came about?? DOnt talk about a part of the world where you havnt been. Thats just proving your ignorance more than anything else. Other than that, Im sure your a capable human being.

Actually - the family's name is bin Laden. I'm sure Mohamed bin Laden (who's wealth came from the Saudi bin Laden Group) would want it correctly referenced.

Where did Al-Saud come about?? Are you sure you're from that region?

The Al Saud family that today rules the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a member of the Anizah, a Northern Arabian or Adnani, tribal confederation historically located in the Najd, or Central Arabian Peninsula. The family derives its name from its18th Century ancestor, Muhammad bin Saud, who joined forces with an austere Islamic reformer, Muhammad bin Abd al-Wahhab, in a military religious alliance for control over Central Arabia.

After two centuries of inter-tribal struggle for control over the region, The Al Saud consolidated its rule over modern Saudi Arabia in 1932. This consolidation came under the leadership of Abd al-Aziz bin Abd al-Rahman bin Faysal Al Saud, the great, great, great, great grandson of the family's 18th century chieftan. To solidify his rule, Abd al-Aziz brought together members from branches of the Al Saud family who had descended from the family's 18th century founder, Muhammad bin Saud, and his brothers.

But sorry, I'm just an ignorant American/Canadian...
