I recently bough myself a new soundcard, this one:

http://productsen.terratec.net/modu...order=0&thold=0

I have a big problem going on, and no idea what causes it...

When I open Cubase, everything works fine, the card is set to external sample rate on 48 khz.... BUT when I close Cubase.. the machine SHUTS DOWN immediatly.. (the CPU goes to tyhe roof.. and the CPU overheating protection kicks in)

what is causing this shutdown to the machine? (its the CPU yes!) but why does this happen?

my setup is
AMD 2500+
1024 RAM
Terratec Universe 7.1

anybody have a slightest idea? :conf:

some cards have problems when using cheap ram or ram that are different clock speeds from each other. I have never heard of a system shut down from this? but you should also check out if the card is having IRQ conflics with other hardware..this could be the problem. If not check out some customer support at terratic..if they have it.

- Load bios defaults and try to update drivers.
- Test your card in other computer.
- If the card have no problem in others computers try to reinstall WinXP.

Probably is a drivers problem and windows shutdown the machine (not for a hardware malfuncion), right click on my pc, properties, select advanced options tab and uncheck "automatic restart".
Now when you close cubase you can view details of the error.
Post it :)

I dont think a Cpu problem is unussual :conf:
