So....who do you support?
My opinion is that the NHLPA should bend to the realities of the market.
If they don't trust the figures that the League is giving them, then why don't they have an unbiased 3rd party audit the figures? It's not like the NHLPA doesn't have the cash... |

| I do understand the players plite, but we need teams in the small cities, otherwise the integrity of the "Canadian game" is at risk. NHL is already an American sport in terms of TV ratings... |

How about...I don't really supoort any of them? How many months and weeks did they have to negotiate...and came up with nothing. Each side blaming the other all about one little issue...bah sounds like little kids arguing "he did, she did..."
It sucks we have no hockey though. |

| how about some other group creates a league with new pay rules and invites NHL teams to join in... the best league/buisness model would prevail |

salary cap is stupid imo. If the owners are stupid enough to give them salaries that they cannot afford to pay, then thats their fault.
Viva la the free economy.... |

| i dont feel sorry for the players. They are already making millions to play a children's game. What more do they want? |

Capitalist Pig
j/k.
A salary cap is good IMO, it prevents, or at least penalizes teams trying to buy their way to the stanley cup, build a team, don't buy one. It also prevents teams from spending year after year and being one of the 5 teams in the league that can afford all the best players [like the yankees in MLB]. |

| Ok, and endless source of cash and a competant front office. Either way, cap is still good imo |

The League...NO QUESTION IN MY MIND.
The owners put up the capital to start a team...they assume ALL of the risk...they deserve to reap the rewards. This isn't a case of the players being "shafted". The average salary is 1.7 million and they assume NONE of the risk when they join a team. Whether they win or lose, whether the stands are packed or empty...they still get their salary.
If a team folds, WTF do the players lose...they can move on somewhere else to make their $$$. I'd like to see a group of players put up their own money to start a franchise if they feel that they are so "deserving".
Yes, without the very best players, there wouldn't be the quality of hockey we have today...but without the owners putting up millions of their own money, their would be no hockey league period.
Every other major sport controls salaries to a larger extent than in hockey...and all of those players are making good cash. This is simple greed and it's disgusting... |
