A proper way to wrap up lunch

I was eating lunch at a sushi restaurant up North when two women, presumably a mother and her daughter, sat down at a table next to me and started talking to eachother in a Germanic language.
I was almost finished with my meal, so i stood up to pay the bill a minute later, but was told that they don't accept debit. At this point, i left the restaurant to go to a nearby bank and grab a 20.
As i walked back into the restaurant, i realized that the daughter, who turned out to be quite gorgeous, wouldn't take her eyes off me. So i paid the bill, turned around and in front of 20 people, went at it:
Me: Hey, i'm sorry to interrupt, but i wanted to ask you something... are you single?
Girl: *look of absolute shock*
Mom: *completely frozen*
... at this point, an older guy at a table next to theirs decides to jump in...
Guy: :haha: i don't think she is...
Me: Uh oh, she's not like your fiance or something, is she? :D
Guy: Not yet... but for a moment back there, i actually thought you were asking ME! ;)
Me:  sorry buddy, i don't swing that way :haha:
... and i turn back to the girl, who's still sitting there absolutely frozen with a mouth full of sushi and that same exact expression. Her mother hasn't moved a muslce either, she's still staring into oblivion:
Me: How about YOU though? ;)
Girl: *still shocked, starting to recover*
Me: Haha, are you alright? Do you speak English? :)
Girl: *finally finishes chewing her food*
Girl: Yeah... i do... yes... :)
Me: Yes what?
Girl: Yes i'm single... but i'm going back to Austria on Monday
... anyway, that's it for the funny part. We chatted for another minute and i excused myself. That was pretty ing hilarious, especially with the guy jumping in and all. I guess i really do look gay after all :D |

It's all a game though... and i'm keeping score too! For the month of September it's 9 yay 22 nay. But yea, i'm surprised she wasn't asian either! What's happening to me! |

oh brother. Thats how it happened in the old days when society had more confidence. There was no problem asking out women like this. Sadly we have become to closed off of a society to even smile to each other in public anymore never mind actually try and get dates. Now people get "offended" by it. Which isnt surprising since people get offended by everything now. |

It's not about that. You have to view life as a game, because that's all it is. A game of numbers, of opportunities. The only way to ensure the highest odds of success is to make use of absolutely every opportunity and to create opportunity wherever the laws of nature and men allow for it to be created. For those who can't grasp this simple fact and make use of it, the game's already over.

Are you serious? She was GLOWING! Think about it. From my point of view, i faced humiliation if i didn't speak up. But from hers, i risked getting humiliated in front of dozens of people just for a chance to get to know her. In a society where most men are more afraid of public humiliation than they are of death (documented fact), how do you think that makes a girl feel?

I hear ya. I've been consciously putting an effort into reprogramming myself. I purposely force myself to approach when social pressure not to approach is at it's highest. It's such a rush - it's starting to get addictive! The reactions are really priceless! Girls just light up! And guys get their look on their faces, as if they were in the presence of a god. No, i don't think i'm a god but hey, it's their facial expression, not mine! :D |

I think our society is equal in the self esteem department. Generally no one seems to have any which is why we are so closed off. |

And then our parents make us fear it by constantly telling us how important the opinions of others are. When you were a kid, would you have second thoughts about walking into a playground and playing with random kids? Hell no! But try doing that now. No, i don't mean with kids smartass :D I've actually forced myself to do it with really large groups. It was hard at first, but got easier. I'm slowly approaching a level where it's natural to view everyone not as a stranger, but future friend. And lemme tell you something, what a better way to live life that is!

It was actually my second time approaching a girl with her mom in the last two weeks so it didn't take much. You know what, i just realized that both girls said they were leaving town. Isn't that strange? They could be lying because they're embarassed to give out their digits in front of mom, but i doubt it. This girl really did sound like she wasn't from around here - her accent was pretty thick. And the other girl. Well, i got a COMPLETELY different reaction from her and her mom. My approach was absolutely identical, except the venue was a clothing store. But get this, they were both smiling the entire time, didn't look surprised at all, and her mom seemed really proud of her daughter. They were from Vancouver though. |

For the weird that you post on half the time.....
Anyway, yea.. you got my respect on that one. Your reasoning is impeccable in terms of picking up. I've been trying to do that for a while now. It's really hard letting down the barriers. But it seems like you're able to do that. good man. |
