| I really hope Corsten pulls #1 this year. Tiesto was fun and got the crowd pumped, but I wasnt like HOLY . PVD was almost MECHANICAL about his set. REALLY hard and fast, but again, nothing to right home about. AVB had some of the best tracks of all of them but just seemed to be randomly playing them in any ol order. but ferry, Ferry seems to be on a roll, even all the live sets of his I've DLed have been VERY impressive. I dunno, what do you all think? |

| based on gigs i went to this year ( excluding AvB) i.d have to say Tiesto was the best live experience. Maybe because he was playing all the way over her in K.L. and there wasn't any hype to live up to. But this is based on my own opinion. |

Well I saw tiesto twice this year (one in israel and one in ibiza)
and AVB I saw once in ibiza...tijs set in israel was great but in ibiza he was sleeping...on the other end armin was rocking...I really hope tiesto won't take this year again becuase that will make him unbeatable...
If nothing worng is going to happen , I will hear ferry and PVD very soon in israel :D

No one sees eye to eye with me on this, but I would rather watch Armin, followed by Ferry than the other too. I hardly want to see PVD or Tiesto anymore. The club is always too crowded here for Tiesto or PVD, and I wouldn't go unless I got in free. For the most part, I will only go if it's free or nominal. I have seen almost everyone already, and most 2,3,4,5 times. I have a short list of people I would pay to see specifically. I might spend 5 or 10 bucks to get into the club and hang out with friends, if I am mildly interested in the dj, but I'm not paying 20 or 30. I love Digweed, but I still can't believe I paid $20 to see him when he was here. I was expecting cover to be cheaper and wasn't about to leave after I had already driven down there. But let me clarify, I would probably pay out of town at a nice club. For example, I paid for the three day space pass for WMC. But that's a lot of really good dj's at a great venue.
Tangent aside, I am not really that impressed by most of the big trance dj's. As a dj and a perfectionist, Tiesto is too flawed for me to enjoy. Ferry can be a little monotonous for me, and PVD is way too monotonous for me now, for the most part. I would still see him if it's free, and since he usually comes here for friends, that is usually the case. I hope he can get back to the good ol days and play better sets, but I don't know. |

sup matt, neways didnt get to see ferry but everyone in Spundae said it was pretty crzy, but I have to agree with you about Armin and Pvd, Armin just seems like hes throwing random , I didnt like his tracks all that well either, and PvD was rather bleh. |

Matthew D...
I would have to agree with you. I had the opportunity to see each DJ twice this past year and Ferry blew them all away. His energy, enthusiasm, and track selection soared above everyone. It obvious this man loves what he does and puts everything he has into each show.
I loved Armin's performance, but it wasn't quite as strong as Ferry's. On the plus side Armin's track selection is the best by far. He knows the best times to throw down intimate records and records that blow the roof off buildings!
I saw Tiesto last October when he was crowned the #1 DJ in the world again and that performance was WICKED, but in June he was in Cleveland and there was no excitement or energy...seemed like he did not want to be there. I heard stories that he was unhappy w/the mixer, but in my opinion DJs need to move on and perform for the 1500+ people who were in attendance.
Paul Van Dyk, my favorite DJ/producer....this past year I was a bit disappointed in his sets. I think I enjoyed his set better in October than in April. No energy, no excitement...just went through the motions! I don't mind that his sets are harder and definitely tech-trance. Change is always good, but I didn't see the same sets that put me in absolute astonishment. When I saw him in London in 2002 he blew me away.
Just some of my thoughts.
Cheers,

Nice post. Not many know how to post constructively without completely bashing the artist. ;) |

Ferry has to be the nicest down to earth guy I have ever met among all djs, and believe me I have met so many:)
His talent exceeds any producer in this Trance scene, his musical background of classical is so experienced and professional that he manages to pull of making those hit tracks like Punk and Rock Your Body!
he deserves everybody's vote i guess. |
