Yesterday was quite sick and had to go out about an hour afterwards, needing to eat before, and even toast made me feel just as bad, so I was wondering, what do people in different countries do when they get/have the following ?
Sickness
Diahroea/constipation
Flu/Heavy Cold
Burns/cuts/stings etc
and if you can add more, please do so. just wondering if what people do in one country that others don't, may actually be a better way, and interesting to see how many people actually tackle similar problems in different manners :)
For me/some ppl in the uk
Sickness = toast, avoid dairy products, bitter lemon (tta will be happy)
Diahroea/constipation Immodium/Senakot
Flu/Heavy Cold - Hot Lemon/Lemsip/Strepsils/vics vaporub etc |

well, excluding the many home medicines we have to help.......
diarrhea - not a damn thing
constipation - prunes/fiber
flu - vapor rub as you said, not many other options other than that really, basically ride it out and take flu medicine. Running a steamer doesnt hurt.
heavy cold - hot shower, soup, warm bath, if coughing during sleep/laying down, use two pillows to tilt head up (works great)
burns - vitamin e/aloe
overall, the best remedy imo of all time is soup. Works wonders on the sinus', relaxes the stomach, soothes the throat....excellent stuff. |

Sickness > toast or some other "fluffy" kind of bread, orange lemonade
Diarrhea > coal pills (or whatever they're called in English), lots of fluids with minerals, salts and other necessary things to prevent dehydration
Constipation > prunes indeed!
Flu/Heavy Cold > grandma's homemade berry juice (hot), fruits. Hot berry juice makes you feel better in every way, Vicks Vaborub helps if you can't get sleep while having flu.
Burns/cuts/stings etc > depends of the wound/cut/etc. Coldwater or ice for burns, plaster or bandage for cuts, for stings some ointment or antihistamin (or whatevah they are in English again) pills, for snake bites doctor knows better..
Hangover > cold lemonade or juice, ice cream, burgers/pizza or anything "fatty" and salty food or a few grains (no need for a handful but only a few grains) of sea salt does the trick as well.. Sleep is a great option too.
Headache > put a splinter under your toenail, kick the wall with the same toe and voilá! Headache is forgotten! :haha: i hardly ever use any painkillers tho unless absolutely necessarily, only if the pain is serious. |

Hmmm...the key to hangovers for me is what you do before you head to bed that night, rather than after you wake up. I usually chug down a glass of water or two (very important if you're doing shots/drinking straight) and an aspirin and then head to bed, and wake up feeling decent the next morning. |

well yeah, when i used to drink (cant due to bad liver now) I used to eat lots of sugary stuff or even drink a glass of water with 3 teaspoons of sugar in it, and u wake up without the hangover so to speak |

diarrhea - nothing, just try to stay hydrated (Imodium AD if it's bad)
Constipation: Rhubarb. Eat enough of it, and you'll see.
Cold: Absolut citron and lemonade (I swear to god this works, might be all the vit c)
Flu: Depends what kind of flu. feel crappy flu: just OTC med
Puking/pooping every two minutes flu: as much sleep as possible
Hangover: Sleep, or start drinking again.
EDITED because I'm retarded and put the same thing twice. |

sickness deffo = toast, plenty of water. dairy products are supposed to settle the stomach, particularly milk..? thats what i thought anyway :p
if you have the squits, eat some boiled eggs (4+) and it will slow down bowel movements
if you have constipation eat dates, or lots and lots of nuts.
flu/heavy cold as you mentioned, with added cannabis and/or whiskey |

| When u have the flu, your body becomes hyperacidic, so usually drinking stomach indigestion meds usually help with symptoms like aches and pains , sore throat, etc. I also heard that if you boil all the gas outta coke and drink it, it has the same effect. |
