I know, I know, it's better to make ur own but this bassline f**kin rox! I would like to incorporate this style of bass in to one of my current productions. Please don't bother posting 'be original. make ur own' messages as they are no help to anyone, but if you could point me in the right direction as how to make this that would be great! :D
From what I have posted in the sample it sounds like a pwm type osc with a juicy sub underneath, the second half of the sample posted has just the sub section. Also any help as to amp and envelope settings would be good too!
Cm'on guys don't let me down, I need some help....
Thanks,
Scoobz :p

| I could help with the bassline, but I'm too tired right now...pretty simple sounding though...the first 4 or so bars is uses what sounds like a distorted triangle single oscillator, and then it switches to a sine single oscillator |

Thanx Lephaid, looking forward to hearing from ya, when you've had a rest! ;)

I thought I'd let you see where I'm at, occassionaly try to recreate other people's stuff to get me to work in different ways, it's all too easy to pull up a kick and do what you usually do, pull up a clap and do whay you usually do...etc

ok well I got pretty close to what you want in about 10 minutes. this is what I did
-OSC-Set all to low Octave.can't be specific, it depends on the synth
Sin wave(+3 Detune)
Triangle Wave(-3 Detune)
Pluse Wave(0 Detune)-PWM(0)-Volume only half way up-
-Filter Envelope & Amp-
Attack(2)-Amp- Filter Attack(0)
Decay(0)
Sustain(50)
Release(0)
-Filter-
24db Filter
Resonence(0)
Cutoff(opened fully)
KeyTrack(tune it to a low level so the low bass filtered will let some high frequencies through.)
Distortion-THE KEY ELEMENT TO THIS SOUND!!But don't go insane
bring in some distortion until you are satisfied with the sound.
On some notes there are layered sounds of a higher octave
Depending on the synth you use , you should get quite close to that sound. |

I don't understand why you'd adjust the keytracking if the filter cutoff is open...? (or why you'd use a filter for that matter) |

forgot to mention to play with the cuttoff until satisfied.....when you are dealing with heavy distortion you start to get high frequencies that jump out and for this sound you don't want them present. But you don't want to remove all of the overtones so therfore utilizing keytrack.
Now if you don't want to do it like that or don't like that method then fine. |

| The bass suits the rhythm very well! |

Thanx for the input Limit, gonna try that later, the only other thing I wanted to incorporate was some kind of pitch envelope to give it that sliding d'n'b garage sound (yes I know it's the tranceaddict forum but it's good to mix it up now and again :)). I always like my basses quite plucky, so for anyone else who doesn't know, keep the amp and filt attack the same, delay about a third of the way, sustain anywhere from halfway to three quarters and a little extra release.
And Lephaid, don't make Limit defend his post, he's contributed more than you have! :D ;)
Cheers Websley,
Anything else I've missed, please let me know.
Thanks again for everything so far,
