I recommend the switch to vinyl, if you want to commit to spinning. CD's is more for people who just like to mess around, if you making money off of spinning with CD's I don't respect that.

Custom records? Not unless you order from somebody with a vestax burner, but you can order off of the internet since you live in a trance-populated area.

Peace.

Be aware though that getting a custom vinyl off the internet costs at least $20-$30, and if you want to get a vinyl cutter yourself then it costs somewhere in the region of $8-10 k.

let me clerify the situation, i dont make money (yet, maybe).
at the moment i mix as a hobbie for the fun of it.
i'll probobly stick to cds and maybe move on to VINYL later on if i'm successful...
hopefully you'll respect me now, i dont do bad mixes, you should respect that, my talent, not what i use, :) :) :)
but thanks anyway...

Definetly move to Vinyl. I dont really think too much of CD DJs.

I dont think you'll get the same respect as a vinyl dj if u spin CDs.

im not hatin on you by any means. (ive got an American DJ cd player myself)I only use them if i have to. (not for mixing though **BlaH**)

just my opinion. :D

Haha, there are a few CD DJ's I Respect...it all depends on your seriousness of it. There are people I know who think they are hardcore DJ's but they use CD's...

The main reason I don't like CD's is because its not supporting the artist or the scene...personally I don't have CD plays and won't get any just because nothing beats vinyl IMHO...

If your broke then don't bother getting decks though!
lol

ha ha ha!!!
10x alot guys...
i'll see about the Vinyl thing, i really wanna start with Vinyl but the thing about it that distrbs me most is the availabilaty of songs, i mean on cds u just download and burn, on vinyl its a bit more complicated... :)
any way i'm still thinking about it, Vinyl looks like soooo much fun!!! :) :) :)

your probobly right, music DOES come out first on VINYL, but the thing is, here in Israel there is like one store i know of that sells VINYLs and i'm not sure if they sell alot of progressive, there's availabilty for ya, which points me over to online stores, but hey, you gatta have a deck (at least 1) first right??? :)
and as for burning, that comes from not having a deck and not being able to buy records (high availabilty) and haveing to use cds (low availabilty) and burn songs from the internet (again high availabilty)
ha ha ha... in short i need a deck so that i can b a legit dj and in order to earn u guys' respect. :):):)

I've been spinning vinyl for a little over a year now. But, I just bought a pair of Pioneer CDJ-1000's, and I'd have to say that spinning CD's take *EVERY BIT* as much skill as spinning vinyl. They give me more options to be creative, like looping portions of the song and jumping back and forth between cue points. I'd highly suggest any vinyl die-hard to at least go and give them a try, you might just change your mind.

Now I agree with the argument that spinning CD-R's don't give the artist their royalties, but if they'd print more than a couple thousand copies of their song, and maybe print it more than one time, we might be able to find a copy to buy in the first place! The way vinyl retail works is all f'ed up!

I totally respect any DJ that uses CD's. All that matters to me is what is coming out of the speaker, not the media being used.

It's two different worlds. I totally respect both type of DJing, but vinyl is since the beginning, and this fact do that vinyl DJs are the 'roots' one. Some of them dislike CD DJs, others don't care. I personnally spin vinyls, but if on day I can try a CDJ1000 or other CD mixer/player, I would be very happy, as a CD DJ who try vinyl spinning for the first time.

That's my opinion :)
