PC Startup Question......

ok......

So I just got a new PC this past week & I set it up to where Windows XP opens & allows each person in my family to click the icon for their respected profiles. The thing is that when I turn on the computer and click into my profile .....everything is good except for the fact that it always opens up my Win32 Folder when it starts up (I have to close it everytime). When I open up any other profile (for my other family members), it doesnt do it. is there anyway to check what programs load on startup??? This only happens on my profile......

The second thing is that when I load or install any programs (under my profile) the computer doesnt load the same programs with shortcuts on their profiles. I have to manually set-up the shortcuts on those profiles as well.

I did notice going into control panel & looking under the profile administration that everyone is set-up as an administrator. Does this have any effect on anything ??? Also, is there anyway to have windows load w/o having to choose any sort of profiles & just load the main screen off boot??? I want to maybe check my alternatives & see what works best w/o having to do soooo much extra work.

Thanks for your help

did you happen to slide a shortcut of that folder into your startup folder?

here are some solutions that may help you

1- to clear the Win32 folder, goto and type "msconfig" and click . that will show every application that starts up for you when you boot windows. that may help you out.

if not, goto program, and goto HKEY_LOCAL_USERS/Software/Microsoft/.../Run ... something like that, and you would probably see it listed. or

to make it easy, maybe there's a shortcut of that in the Startup folder, located in the start>>programs folder. it may be listed by accident.

2- there may be two solutions.
-1- there may be an option to automatically add shortcuts for every program you installed.
-2- add one shortcut to the Documents and Settings>>All Users>>Start Menu>>... and everyone logged into your system will see it. one shortcut will do the trick.

I know I didnt see anything in the Startup Folder that was in my Start>>Programs ...that I did check.

So when I go into "msconfig" ......how would I be able to disable it if I do end up seeing it in there??? Just delete the line or what?

Is there any way I can just get rid of the user-profiles all together and just load up windows off boot w/o ANY profiles ???

you can uncheck it, or delete it from , if you know where it is in which branch of the tree.

and the other question .. get rid of the user-profiles?? oh however do you mean? you mean delete all the users in your network???

booting without profiles means you want to boot safe mode?
